Lily's corpse

The shock on their faces as they sat in the dining room, you could tell each of them were scared. Diane sat beside her husband Fabian, he is the younger brother to Lily's husband Chris, Mary sat opposite him, she is their youngest and only sister, Sydney sat wailing on the floor, she is Lily's best friend.

Two rooms away from them was Lily's room, they had all been asleep when they heard her husband shout. Alarmed, everyone ran into the room, Lily laid still on the blood filled bed with a small knife stabbed to her chest. Her husband had woken up and went to her room to check if she was awake and apologize for their argument earlier, during the day but he went in to see his wife motionless, bleeding with a very pale skin, one would think she had been
dead for days.

They hurriedly called the police,the doctor who came in with the police confirmed she died about three hours ago but they would need an autopsy which the family agreed to. The detective informed them they had to be interrogated and invited them to the station.

At the station
The detective asked to interrogate the deceased husband first.

"Why didn't you sleep in the room with your wife?" He asked,

"We had an argument during the day, she thought I was cheating on her"

"Were you?"

"No, I wasn't. Someone had misinformed her."

"Do you know who this person could have been?"

"I don't, but I have the number with me".

The next person to be interrogated was Sydney, it went all with each of the family members giving out whatever they knew till they were all interrogated.

Two days later

There's a knock on the door
"Who's at the door?" Sydney yelled, she put on her slippers and went to check who it was. It was the detective who was handling the case, he had a couple more officers with him.

"You are under arrest Ms Sydney for being a suspect in the murder of Mrs Lily Dan"

Sydney was shocked, the rest of the family were already at the scene.

"What is this about?" Chris asked the detective.

"The autopsy revealed your wife does from strangulation and not stabbing, Ms Sydney's DNA matched with the DNA of skin found under your wife's nails, there must have been a struggle, we'll have to investigate more".

Chris staggered a bit, was it hurt or fear? No one could guess. Back at the station Sydney admitted she killed her friend,

"She always felt she was better, she pitied me, she had no fucking right to do that. So I took him away from her, she didn't even know and I took her life away too,I stabbed her after she died because killing her once wasn't enough, I wanted the life she had and I don't regret doing it".

The family was shocked, Chris felt ashamed and guilty for his wife's death. Sydney got a life imprisonment and Lily's corpse, it was put to rest.
