"Mary, are you ready for the grand performance?" I called out to my little sister, who was dressed in a blue fairy dress and sat on the front porch fondling her violin. I wondered why she decided to sit under the hot sun and wait for me other than waiting for me inside.

I was to drive her to her music competition today in our local town hall. Where they all get to perform and the best musicians will be taken to the regional musical competition coming up next month.

"Just putting some little touch to my violin" Mary replied, I watched as she stuck her tongue out paying all attention to her violin.

"What final touch?" I asked, confused and staring at my watch.

"Tuning my violin, dude" she gave me a stern look.

I raised my hands "Take your time sis. We still got some minutes before we're late" I replied joining her on the wooden bench she was sitting on.

I chuckled and shook my head. "You don't look like a serious musician, sis. A fairy dress? Really?"

"What do you mean? Of course, I'm a serious musician. A fairy one at that" she protested. Still focused on the violin. I watched as her curly hair bounced around " And for the record, fairies play the best music."

“Okay” I replied with a smile.

With some Composure and a flair of professionalism, she drew her bow over her violin and a high-pitched sound squeaked loudly. She cursed but didn't give up.

I sat in silence and watched her as she worked her fingers on her violin. She drew her bow again and this time coaxing a somewhat pleasant note from the instrument.

"Yes!" She shouted with joy. "Told you I was the best at this," she said proudly.

"Bravo! Miss Fairy, can we go now?!" I asked standing up.

"Thank you!" She stood up and gave a pose like she was about to perform "But before we go would you like some private concert? I will play you some um... 'Twinkle, Twinkle, Little Star.'"

"I grumbled and sat back down. I knew my Mary to do what she wanted to do no matter how you plead against it.

I listened as she played. She wasn't bad with her hands. I smiled, she was gifted.

Just then, a gust of wind blew through the yard, causing Mary's dress to flutter like real fairy wings. It made her performance more magical.

"See, even the fairies agree with me," she said as she ended the play. She lifted one foot as if to take off.

"Because your clothes fluttered in the air?" I mocked her. "Can we go now Miss fairy?"

"Sure"

With that, we got to the car and got it. A few minutes later we were at the venue of the competition. I quickly got Mary registered and took my seat amongst the guests.

Mary nearly lost out being among those going to the regionals. Her performance wasn't that great. She had a bit of stage fright in between her performances. I vowed within myself to help her train more and overcome her weakness.
