3-part Weekend Freewrite

"You did not need special permission to do this" Laura repeated it to herself several times, but something in her head, in her body, prevented her from moving forward. In front of her, the company corridor opened up. White, with some flowerpots, her colleagues walked and crossed the corridor without having any idea of what could happen. "One step at a time," she said to herself, and moved forward. She turned left, waved to the receptionist, got into the lift and went down to the basement.

Who would have to give her permission to do that? What a fool she had been, she said to herself, if her company would agree. Now the different part would begin. She had already seen her boss leave the car key hidden under the front tyre several times. She got into her car and waited. After a while, when she saw Lewis, the boss's favourite, get out, she paid more attention: he took the key and started the car. Laura looked at her watch: she had already been away from the office for a long time. But she was intrigued to know what was going on. And it didn't take long for the answer to appear.

The "twin gods" sat in front, their grandmother behind them. Lewis started the car, knowing it was unsafe to carry two children in the front seat. He looked scared. As he approached the car park exit, she started her car, ready to follow him. She had seen a lot of movies and remembered how to keep them from seeing her. Lewis began to make a strange tour of the city map, as if trying to lose sight of anyone who might have been suspicious. "Had he seen me?" Suddenly he stopped on the promenade in front of the river and they all came down. The woman, the twins' grandmother, the mother of the CEO of the company, made a gesture of putting something in her purse. She said something, and Lewis left with the car. Laura did the same, and bought herself an ice cream, to look like a turist. They would ask for her at the office, she thought, looking at her watch.

She followed them with her eyes as they went down the stairs, the children began to play in a gazebo closer to the river. Why did they call them the twin gods? Well, besides being twins, they behaved like the capricious Hellenic gods, to the level of pointing fingers at anyone they disliked, and their father would have fired them out of the company. Laura thought of Lewis. Having to leave your chores to go walk two capricious children was not worth the little they were paid at the company. The ice cream, however, tasted good. She took some pictures with her phone, and got a call from her mother, which distracted her. When she realised, she had the kids and grandma next to her. The old woman said something, took some kind of whistle out of her bag, a dog came running and pushed Laura over the veranda. The children got into the car as if nothing had happened, and no one associated the CEO family with Laura's fatal accident.
