Politics! you say! "A Day Like Any Other Day"!, you say. "I ignore that stuff", you say.

IF you were African American and had ancestors such as I do that were forcibly taken from their continent in the Atlantic Slave Trade and brought to the U.S. to work as slaves for plantation owners, brutalized, families split apart, treated as property bartered and sold, denied freedom, denied the right to vote, denied the concept of life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness,

AND a civil war was waged due to this;

AND, when the slaves were finally freed in 1865, it took 2 years for the news to reach Texas, in which the slaveowners still didn't want to relinquish their "property",

ONLY THEN, will you commemorate JUNE 19th, known as JUNETEENTH and definitely won't ignore "that stuff".

Thanks for sharing your thoughts on what you think about this momentous occasion. I'll remember this going forward.

    Thank you for your thoughts. I am well aware of all of this information, having been registered Democrat for 48 years. I've been battered by the politi-speak, told by a great many that I am responsible for their misery. I've had enough.

    I am stepping away from believing what I am told to believe. I no longer support anything I am told to support. I follow the messages from my own source, and those messages are telling me that politics is illusion. I will not follow any system that enslaves me in anger, fear and hate.

    You go ahead and be angry at a fellow Hivean who has supported you for years, and done nothing to harm you. Arise.

      There is no anger in me. I only state the facts. And I thank you and have always thanked you for your support. Everyone has their own opinion. You stated yours, and I stated mine. Since you have never experienced it or had ancestors who did, you definitely have a different outlook.

      I don't know if you read my post a couple months ago in which I told of my personal experience with racism. I was a young adult at the time, and the perpetrators were teens. You're not born with this attitude; you're taught. So I'm not be told or fed anything. I know. I know. And it hurt.
