RE: The Old Pond, a Humpbuckle Tale

in Freewriterslast year (edited)

Don't know what to make of this - why the stats? Is this your work, your creative imagination? I don't mean to be mean but I have to ask because of Chat GPT and frankly, to the unknowing reader such as myself, the post seems mystifying without some kind of explanation. If this is part pf the task of your site, such as responding to a daily prompt, then the average reader is not in on the action. Someone is rewarding you, nonetheless, but I'd want to widen my audience and make it less of an in-story. That's how I see it. You did mention it was a response to a daily prompt but maybe more explanation is needed.

Hi, not a problem to answer your questions. Yes, it's my work. I have never used AI to write a story and I won't do so. The screenshot is of a word counter app. I write my stories on that because it is part of my challenge to write a story in precisely 50 words (it is the word count that I am interested in). You can check out the Freewriters writing prompt everyday at @daily.prompt (some people write for 5 minutes others write for longer or shorter times). I've been writing on Hive (previously steem) for years so I don't feel I need to add an explanation to my posts. And my 50-word #ZapFic challenge is pretty well known (check out @zapfic.club) and has been going for many years now. edit: I will add a little bit to the end of my posts in future to state that it is my own work and my anti-AI stance on writing and other art work. #NotARobot!
Further edit: I've seen you are a writer. I'm guessing by your question that you may also be anti-AI. You might be interested in a facebook group I'm on (as Bruce Arbuckle) "Writers Against A.I. Writing Support Group" https://www.facebook.com/groups/759974362363357

Thank you very much for your response. Actually, I used AI today to generate an image to illustrate my story as unfortunately, I don't have recourse to a staff artist, lol. As a matter of fact, you're right, I appreciate the unique aspect of the creative process and wouldn't compromise that for anything. I will take a look at that site

Yeah, I've been guilty of experimenting with an image generator in the past. After deciding I was anti Ai in writing I paid for an image to use for my Humpbuckle Tales (a young artist on Hive). But that's an image ill be using over and over, I don't have the resources to pay on a daily basis (that's another reason for the screenshot)

Exactly, that's a recurrent challenge I face and I know I spend an inordinate amount of time trying to find the right image. It probably doesn't matter as much to readers as it does to me but I want to pursue excellence and not just make do
