En el mundo de las herramientas, como en muchos otros hay una enorme por no decir casi infinita colección de estas y que simplemente pueden variar entre lo que serían el tipo y el tamaño, pues más ahora que en el pasado, existen combinaciones algo distintas y que van muchas veces en torno a alguna aplicación en específico, por lo cual algunas veces puede verse o parecer algo “tonto” comprar alguna en específico cuando ya se tiene una igual, pero en distinto tamaño.
Y es que hace un tiempo, entré en una tienda de cosas usadas, y había conseguido un set de ratchet diminuto, y simplemente al verlo dije lo necesito, y no por algún capricho, sino que algunas veces mi ratchet es demasiado grande para espacios tan reducidos y posteriormente me tocaba hacerlo todo a punta de llaves combinadas y en algunos casos podía ser algo engorroso por el espacio que quedaba para maniobrar lo que hacía que fuera todo un poco más demorado.
Mi novia al verlo dijo que para qué podría servir una “herramienta diminuta” como esa, pues parecía más bien un juguete más que una herramienta, yo simplemente sonreí y le dije, ya verás, gracias a que estaba prácticamente sola el ratchet pude comerciar un mejor precio del que tenía originalmente y al mismo tiempo viendo que era una buena marca, resultaba ser un gran negocio.
Ella un poco escéptica, decía que había sido mucho dinero por algo tan pequeño que parecía inútil, pero realmente, por mi parte sabia que era algo realmente funcional, por lo cual, solamente bastaba esperar el momento en el que fuera necesario para demostrarle sus usos y aplicaciones respectivas, y fue cuando un día en el que estaba cambiándole unas cosas a la camioneta de un tío, vi la oportunidad.
Le llamé y le comenté, “amor ven acá ayúdame con esto, vas a sacar aquel tornillo”, (yo le estoy enseñando un poco de mecánica básica para que ella pueda saber un poco del tema porque uno nunca sabe), a lo que le ofrecí una llave combinada y mi ratchet que es grande, ella empezó y dijo que el ratchet era muy incómodo por el espacio y por el tamaño, y con la llave iba a demorar muchísimo tiempo porque había que entrar y sacar la llave para ir desenroscando.
Yo simplemente le dije, “viste”, y me le acerqué con el ratchet pequeño y simplemente me dijo que esa cosa tan pequeña no iba a poder con esa tuerca, a lo que simplemente le dije, “claro que sí, inténtalo tú misma y verás”, y fue como cuando la tuerca empezó a aflojar que su cara fue cambiando y le había encontrado su aplicación a la herramienta que tanto había desmeritado.
Y desde entonces ella dice que ese pequeño ratchet es la mejor herramienta que tengo, porque para ella el otro es muy pesado y al mismo tiempo incómodo de maniobrar, pro lo cual este al ser más pequeño y liviano puede servir a la perfección para cualquier trabajo que ella quiera hacer o en el que haya que ir a un espacio reducido, porque al final, no hay que juzgar a un libro por su portada y si existe es por algo..

Some time ago, I went into a used store, and I got a tiny ratchet set, and when I saw it I simply said I need it, and not because of some whim, but sometimes my ratchet is too big for such small spaces and then I had to do everything with combination wrenches and in some cases it could be a bit cumbersome because of the space left to maneuver, which made everything a little more time consuming.
My girlfriend when she saw it said that what could be the use of a “tiny tool” like that, because it looked more like a toy than a tool, I just smiled and told her, you'll see, thanks to the fact that the ratchet was practically alone I could trade a better price than it had originally and at the same time seeing that it was a good brand, it turned out to be a great deal.
She was a little skeptical, she said that it had been a lot of money for something so small that seemed useless, but really, I knew that it was something really functional, so I just had to wait for the moment when it was necessary to demonstrate its uses and respective applications, and it was when one day when I was changing some things to a guy's truck, I saw the opportunity.
I called her and told her, “love come here help me with this, you are going to take out that screw”, (I am teaching her a little basic mechanics so she can know a little of the subject because you never know), to which I offered her a combination wrench and my ratchet which is large, she started and said that the ratchet was very uncomfortable because of the space and size, and with the wrench it would take a long time because you had to enter and remove the key to go unscrewing.
I simply told her, “you saw”, and I approached her with the small ratchet and she simply told me that that small thing was not going to be able to handle that nut, to which I simply told her, “sure, try it yourself and you will see”, and it was when the nut began to loosen that her face changed and she had found its application to the tool that she had so much despised.
And since then she says that this little ratchet is the best tool I have, because for her the other one is very heavy and at the same time uncomfortable to maneuver, so this one being smaller and lighter can serve perfectly for any work she wants to do or in which she has to go to a small space, because in the end, we should not judge a book by its cover and if it exists is for something..
