Brand New Canvas (and a prelude about @hivewatchers) - 5minutefreewrite

in Freewriters3 days ago

Hey everyone. I started writing another post about whatever's happening, but then I stopped because it was both emotionally exhausting and not what I want to do with one of the last days of my kiddo's break. I posted on @loch's page about not posting for a while, but when my wife got home with her mom, she said, "let's do a freewrite" and I said, "but we haven't resolved this thing and posting now might get them started on downvoting everything they can that we have done and everything we will do." and she said, "if they start doing that, then they're being real jerks and we should organize a whole campaign to bring them down" which I don't have the energy for and I think won't have a big enough impact, because they're supported by whales who wouldn't even notice the impact of a hundred accounts like ours banding together. But I also don't want to ever say no to someone who has a keen sense of justice and is willing to do something about it, and I hate living in fear of someone having too much power over me, so... here we go, doing another freewrite today. It would be nice to not have such mixed feelings about this place that's been a part of our lives for so many years.

Sarah sets out a brand new canvas.

She wants so much to believe that if she just tries and tries and tries again, she'll be an incredibly painter, that she'll get her artwork displayed in galleries and someday art museums around the world.

But the canvases aren't cheap. And she doesn't want to become known for her eclectic canvases made out of found objects or anything like that. An artist uses fresh, clean canvases and they are connoisseurs of the best paints and brushes.

She'll just be very careful each time, and get as much practicing done as possible per canvas. She selects a red and a white and squeezes a bit on her very professional board and mixes them. A light pink. Maybe too childish, she thinks. She adds a blue. Now it's purple - lavender, really. Who paints with lavender. She's not a silly child. She needs real, adult colors. Like...like what? She can't think of what an adult color is. Black? The blackest black like that famously grudge-bearing artist invented? Maybe to be a real artist she needs to make her own paints.

Whew. The time flew by. The timer came all-too-soon.

Sorry to hear you're having downvoting issues. You might consider using one of the portals that ignores them.

Downvotes are a part of the blockchain. Using a different frontend won't change their impact. But sincerely, thank you for your sympathy.
