Ian was a very keen gardener and loved to grow all sorts of flowers and vegetable and fruit trees.
His garden was always brimming with produce, he had learnt many years ago about what to plant when, the seasonal changes and the moon phases.
He had learnt about Permaculture techniques and had always done things in threes.
Everyone who knew Ian, always said that he had one of the most magnificent and productive gardens that they knew.
Besides all the fantastic produce that Ian's garden produced and a vast array of annual and perennial flowers, Ian’s pride and joy was his Rose Garden along the side of his property.
He had deliberately planted about 40 Rose Bushes in a spiral so that he could get lost in the circle of roses by going to the centre. He gad even built a wooden bench in the centre of the spiral so that he could just sit and enjoy the roses when they were in full bloom. The scent was just intoxicating.
It was a beautiful morning. The sun had risen about an hour ago and Ian had already picked a number of summer vegetables that he could put on his community stand out the front.
It was time to make a brew of Dandelion tea and go and spend some time in his Rose Garden.
It had lightly rained overnight and Ian knew that the combination of the moisture and the sun on his Roses would produce the most divine aromas and he was really excited to spend some time being immersed in the exotic world that these scents would send him.
Cup of tea in hand Ian set off for the side of his property, His anticipation was almost too much to bear as he rounded the hedge that separated the rose Garden.
As he did so, he dropped his cup and looked at the Rose garden in Horror.
Every single Bloom had been plucked
Ian couldn’t contain himself, he was overwhelmed by horror and puzzlement and ran around screaming, Oh No, Oh No
He saw a trail of petals going into Miranda’s property.
There was a hedge separating the two properties that had a gateway. Miranda often came over to help Ian with his gardens.
Ian set off after the tail which led him to Miranda’s back door. Without knocking, he abruptly let himself in and there in front of him was Miranda, she was in front of her wood stove with a massive cauldron like Pot steaming away.
To Ian the house smelt like destruction, he wasn’t thinking straight and was still driven by horror.
'What are you doing Miranda' he said.'Have you stolen all my Rose flowers?'
'Calm down' Miranda said, 'there will be plenty more in the next couple of days, I took all that was there so I could make some Rose Water. You know how much the neighbourhood like it.'
Ian slumped onto a chair at the kitchen table, 'I need a cup of Tea' he said
Miranda looked at him and said, 'would you like some Rose Water'
