Waiting| POETRY

A woman is born for waiting
She must sit beneath a pride of barbados' tree
Chew patience as she awaits the outstretch of a man's love.
She must be led into a sanctuary of love
Not she anchoring the lead—
They say that's how to define a woman's pride.

A woman sobs beneath a man's jabs
With what does she wade through this fire?
They say an army of prayers—
They plunge her into a blindfolded prayer—
One that doesn't see God's face—
He despises ignorance.
Her mother's tongue oozes;
you must stay,
you are a puzzle without a man's embrace—
he completes you
and makes you a brighter art.

And this is how a woman fades away like a weak fragrance—
How long must she wait for a beast to be domesticated?
