Claire for sure can do a while without school if both parents are there and can educate her.
The crops or better those idiots setting it at fire? How stupid can a person be to not understand one has to eat. No crops no food for them either.
The friend? A real friend wil understand that he can't pay back within a month and help to find a solution.
The wife? She's been operated and no hospital will keep her longer than needed. Recovery can be done at home among people who lover her and medication? It's not said it's needed.
