In her mind lived a list of past lovers ranked from most to least likely to one day end up on the news, accused and guilty of something truly heinous.
The least likely, the one that got away, was a pickpocket with a heart of gold and a mild gambling addiction. A real sweetheart except for those two tiny problems.
She'd really loved him and been genuinely heartbroken to wake up alone one morning, minus everything of value in her apartment with a one word apology note on his pillow. She had still found it endearing that he'd misspelled the word, ‘Sorry’.
So yes, she had a soft spot for him and probably always would. That fact notwithstanding, she was shocked to turn on the nightly news and see him accused of a string of high profile assassinations. So much for that gradient of criminality.

I wasn't sure what to write on today's prompt. It's not very direct, you know? But I put something together and here it is. I feel like it doesn't flow as well as it should but the point is to post, even if some of them aren't that great. Write if you're a writer (verbs need action etc).
If you want to write on today's prompt you can head over here for all the details.
