Jacob was trying to get some information about Stacy. She was acting sus all the time, she was not attending classes and she was absent mentally whenever there was a lecture. This created a negative feeling and thought in the mind of Jacob. This is why he started spying on her, but when she found out that he is spying on her, she thought that he is such a creep. Later on, this misunderstanding was cleared by both, and their friendship continued.
