MY EXPERIENCE WHILST SHOPPING FOR CLOTHES IN ABEOKUTA

Good day, fellow hivers😇
So today, I decided to go out and get a few new casual clothes. Around 2pm,I headed out to the market with my friend Henry. He followed me because he was more familiar with the marketplace.

We spent like an hour getting there after all the stress, traffic and air pollution🤢. On getting to the market, everywhere was bubbling as usual. Lots of people were there either to buy or sell to customers. I couldn't take pictures in the market because it wasn't safe to do so. We went to the clothes section of the market and we started searching for the ones we liked.

After searching for few minutes we then go to the hardest part of "shopping" in a typical Nigerian market i.e. bargaining. We spent hours trying to reduce the exorbitant price all to no avail so we had to get them at that price, we succeeded at getting the other items for a lower price though. We paid for everything and started our journey back to school. We got to the bustop and couldn't find and taxi cab headed in our direction for almost an hour too. Eventually we had to take a bike and I tell you it was a very unpleasant journey.

We narrowly escaped by whiskers getting involved in an accident on many occasions. It's indeed worthy of thanksgiving to God when you go out and return safely. Finally we go to the hostel very stressed out, I'm still stressed out as I'm writing this but that won't stop me from sharing few helpful tips below for shopping in a Nigerian Market.

  1. Take your nosemask: This is very important as it would help protect you from harmful substances in the air.

  2. Take an I.D Card: This is also very important as it'll help in identifying yourself during an emergency.

  3. Dress moderate: In Nigeria, most traders set prices according to the way the customer is dressed. If you dress extravagantly, you'll be sure to buy everything at an exorbitant price😂.

  4. Carry extra cash: Most people run out of cash while shopping because they didn't carry more than enough. Don't fall victim to that, carry more cash than your budget.

  5. Have a budget: This is key in helping you spend wisely else you might end up buying less important things.

I hope you learned a thing or two about shopping in a Nigerian Market. Have you ever shopped in a Nigerian Market? Please share your experiences
