A Picture Is Worth a Thousand Words (Or, Exactly Fifty): Baby, When the Lights Go Out ...

Source

What I see: Way too much light indoors for the Middle Ages, but an understandable mistake by the illustrator because we live in the electronic age ... and, it sets up those huge bats flying in the clouded moonlight. There is a woman's figure, her hands on the windowpane upstairs while a carriage, not nearly as well lit, is leaving the castle.

What I feel: quietly, something of great import is happening here, and not good ... all this light is endangered ...

It looked like an ordinary carriage. The bats wheeling overhead and the midwife with her hands on the windowpanes in anguish knew better.

The queen was dead; her newborn daughter was being smuggled to safety, away from the imposters to the throne.

Darkness would fall until all was made right.

Like someone said, that's a great storyline for a novel. I love it

Thank you ... I have given some thought to it!

Waow. Another great fictional novelist.. I loved the perception.

Thank you so much ... I try to get a lot in those 50 words!

And you got something significant

Wow, within 50 words you have unleashed a huge novel plot!

It fills me with uncertainty that you say the newborn princess was taken to a ‘safe place’, away from impostors, but you claim she is being smuggled, heh, heh, heh. Smuggling⇆security?

She is being smuggled out because the imposters want her dead ... so yes, it is for her security.

All those problems a midwife has to take care of as well. I wonder why she stayed but also about her network.

In the part of this I didn't write down, she has to stay to say the queen is dead and the child is "gone" also ... and let the impostors be self-deceived.

My brain is trying to write this out into a longer story...

It's clear being the messenger of the bad news is her task as well. Hopefully, the one who left with the child can be trusted. The circle of those who know the child left is getting bigger.
Success with writing the story.

No ... the circle is only three ... the midwife, the realm's oldest knight (and bravest, if I write it), and his wife.
