Well, it has been cold lately, since last part of November. Right now as I write on a Sunday at 10:37 in the morning it is 41 degrees F. That is pretty cold for the California Central Valley. Of course we had colder weather than that in December, but I would say it is pretty cold for us here.
At least I have a fireplace. I didn't light up the fireplace much last year, but this year. I am cleaning up the backyard, looking for pieces of firewood that I have collected over the years.
Cause this year I will probably use them all.
I did have some pieces of wood that were large. I decided to take out my electric chainsaw. Well, for my yard an electric chainsaw will do, but if you want to cut something down and you don't have any electric plug available than it is better to get a 2 stroke gas chainsaw.
Back when I had my 91 Chevy S10 pickup I would read the Craigslist free ads where people want to give away stuff. I would look for people that just cut their tree down and wanted to give the wood away.
That is how I would get firewood, I just look for people giving away free firewood.
Well, my 91 Chevy S10 pickup gave out in 2023 sometime after my mom died and I just kept on going back and forth to the dump yard trying to get rid of stuff, until my old pickup died out and I didn't want to fix it, as we had to move out of the house my mom and brother used to live at, then we moved my brother into my place. To finish the moving and dumping stuff, I did have to rent a small Uhaul truck.
So in 2024 July 1st, I bought another pickup, a 1994 Mazda B3000. I like that pickup, I just haven't used it to get wood yet, but I will keep an eye on the Craigslist free ads for free firewood.
So now my cat is in front of the fireplace, it is pretty warm there. She likes it that way.
