Why hasn't he called? | 5 Minute Freewrite Daily Prompt 1621 Entry - "Keep in Touch"

Hello, my fellow Freewritters! It's becoming a custom for me to come and give me my little writing time to share with you. At this point, I'm interested in comparing what other people in the Freewriters community have created using the same prompt. He promised he'd stay in touch no matter what. But still, here we are. One week later, no signs of him.

I tried to text him but at some point, his phone just stopped receiving my messages. And by now I'm pretty sure that he does not want me to talk to him at all.

The first days I tried to calm myself down, thinking that he was just busy. After all, he had left for a trip with his friends. No one likes to be interrupted when they spent time with their friends. But as the days went by, my anger grew.

What on earth could be so important that involved leaving me in the air for such a long time?

Then there was doubt. Maybe something...or someone...else was keeping him awake and with his hands so full he couldn't spare two seconds to pick up his phone. But no, that couldn't be the case. He would never, would he? Perhaps it was just the signal. Maybe the line wasn't working too well.

And the night went on and on between these theories. At last, I decided that was it. That I'd never, ever forgive him for putting me through this.

At that very moment, the window broke open. A cold breeze, unnatural for a warm summer night entered through it.

I smiled. Of course, that was it. He could never hurt me. And...he had promised he'd stay in touch...no matter what.
