Money Corrupted Him, He Was Reformed When He Lost It All!

We were classmates for at least 6 years, he was a tall white guy, he looked a bit older than us all, that wasn't the only thing that was different about him though!

His father was a jeweler, you can guess he was rich, which had a lot of consequences on this man's life!

He was a student who spends triple the salary of the teachers we had. He even got his first car when he was in grade 10, a car only few of the teachers could afford. He ate tons of candy, gained a lot of weight, was diagnosed with diabetes at a very young age.

He took private classes in every subject we had; teachers would come to his home just for him, still he hardly passed. By now you can easily imagine how his life looked like.

His father was very old since we were in sixth grade, his health kept getting worse and finally he had Alzheimer, and he passed away. Before his father passed away he nearly lost all his money, they weren't able to locate most of it, other traders he dealt with used the fact he had Alzheimer. He also never told anyone where he keeps his money, traders hardly ever put their money in banks, they buy and sell using cash.

I met this guy not so long ago and he had lost over 50 kilograms, sold their lovely house, bought a smaller and cheaper one, sold all their cars. He was working as a scooter driver just to get 2% of the money he used to spend years ago.

He told me about how oblivious he was to the value of money, how he spent thousands like it's nothing, how he never had to worry about money and how he now works all day to get what is barely enough to pay his college tuition.

I couldn't help but think that money made him the worst possible version of himself, and the lack of it was way better for him. I understand it's not about the money; it's about how he dealt with it.

I'm not a pessimist but, circumstances do change, and if you're not ready for that possible turning point, you should get yourself prepared.
