11 Districts in Bireuen Flooded, Hundreds of Residents Forced to Evacuate.

High-intensity rain that hit Bireuen District, Aceh Province, Friday, 01/20/2023 night, resulted in overflow flooding in 11 sub-districts.

Floods were caused by overflowing river water in several sub-districts on Saturday, 01/21/2023, water entering residential areas in the morning. Until now hundreds of residents in various villages have been forced to flee, it is likely that the number of refugees will continue to grow. This is because the rain has so far not subsided in Bireuen District, Aceh Province.

The worst floods occurred in Pandrah Bireuen Sub-District, where there are four evacuation points in the sub-district. The evacuation points are in Lancok Ulim Village, Gampong Blang, Pandrah Janeng and Pandrah Kande.

Apart from Pandrah Subdistrict, overflow floods also occurred in Kota Juang, Juli, Samalanga, Peudada, Jeunieb, Makmur, Simpang Mamplam, Peulimbang, Jeumpa and Peusangan Districts.

Meanwhile, the Chairman of the Bireuen District Disaster Preparedness Cadets Coordinator, Zulfikar GA, in his report release stated that 11 sub-districts were flooded. The overflow floods on average inundated residents' settlements reaching 40 centimeters to 80 centimeters.

His party is currently still carrying out data collection, but his party has also distributed panic relief assistance to evacuees in a number of locations.

Zulfikar added that apart from Pandrah sub-district, evacuation points were also located in Kota Juang, Jeunieb, Samalanga, Peulimbang and Peudada sub-districts.
