While in the thick of the forest and the day having turned to dusk Maya felt fear slowly seeping in. The trees rustled, and the shadow moved under the moon with its rays. With gripping hands on her necklace that her late grandmother bought her, she mumbled, “please guide me home.”
As abruptly as possible, a firefly came out, sparkling gently. Then another, and then another, and soon she had a trail of those shimmering lights following her. Maya being dumbstruck succeeded in following the trail of the fairies.
One by one, the fireflies guided her right out of the forest. Coming out into the place she knew, the tears of relief rose in her throat. The fireflies were gone and all that I was left with was memories of the glow which have led me through the darkness.
