Plans and execution

A good plan violently executed now is better than a perfect plan executed next week.

There's a really nice feeling about days off whether I have plans or not; it feels like anything is possible and despite the fact I'll not be travelling away anywhere (too far anyway) it feels nice to have the ability to make plans or not and my main plan was to not make plans. Of course, life still needs to roll on so I've had to do a few things that, due to leading a rather complex and busy life, have escaped notice until now and so, I planned - yes, I know I said I'd not do that - to tick a couple things off early in my couple weeks off work and yesterday was the day.

I had a huge sleep in all the way through to 6am at which time I went for a run and then, showered, breakfasted and around 8am headed out in my four wheel drive to take it to my mechanic.

Back a while I broke Big Dog's anti-roll bar (Big Dog is my four wheel drive) and had my mechanic fix it; fixing it was easy but levelling the rear suspension was not so. My vehicle has a kinetic dynamic suspension system (KDSS) which uses hydraulics to level out the vehicle (left to right) when off-roading. This complicated system works really well but levelling it after the repair was fiddly as it has to be levelled when in the air but put down on the ground to check the level. The valves need to be opened to bleed out, the level applied, and the system closed back up and the vehicle dropped to see how it settles out. That all happened last time but I was unhappy with the result (even though my mechanic did it three times that day to get it right) as it was 16mm (0.629921 of an inch) leaned to the right on the rear.

I know, it's not much but I didn't like it so I took it back in and he did the job again and now it's 2mm (0.0787402 of an inch) and I'm happy with that. Yeah it's pedantic of me I guess, but it's my nature to do things right and it was annoying me to see the vehicle from behind with that slight lean. Now I'm happy with it.

I had a coffee while waiting for my vehicle, image above, and when I picked it up headed off to my tyre guy...it was time for a wheel balance, rotation and alignment which I do every 5,000km; $125 well spent as it keeps my tyres in good condition and wearing evenly.

I then picked up my girl from home and we went to the supermarket for food shopping which I wasn't looking forward to; so many people pushing those trolleys (shopping carts) at a snails pace, stopping in the middle of the aisle, meandering along on no fixed trajectory and being generally annoying...not something I have the patience for usually and less so at Christmas time. Still, I managed not to slay anyone and the shopping got done.

That was the end of the plan and I have to say it was all executed with relative ease and with a satisfactory result. From here, I've got no plans other than to relax and possibly make a few day-trips maybe to the Yorke Peninsula a couple hours away or some such place. Maybe not though.

Seeing as you get up at get stuffed o'clock anyway do you have any Spud Sheds (or other equivalent 24hr place) that you could drop into when there's generally going to be a lot less people there to get in the way and generally be irritating?

And hey you only planned stuff that was actually important/needed to be done and the rest of the day can be spontaneously getting things done/planning for non-spontaneous days right ;D

I've not heard of Spud Sheds so looked it up. Nope, we don't have that here but there's a few smaller supermarkets I go to such as the gourmet one not too far away. There's always idiots though, no matter where one goes.

Plans happen I guess, even when nothing is planned because deciding to do nothing is a plan...to do nothing. :)

Oh for sure but there seems to be markedly less idiots around at 5:30-6am on a weekend morning. It didn't occur to me Spud Shed might be a WA only thing.

This is true XD

I'm grumpy in the morning so people who may not be idiots are labelled as idiots.

Ok, not really. At that time of the day I'm running.

Running is just as important and probably better done at get stuffed so you don't overheat and die.

Do you also run at that time in winter D:

In winter...sometimes. Not as regularly. It's cold, as if you didn't know that.

I don't want to get out of bed in winter coz it's too cold x_x

J will still walk the dog at that time unless it's raining though coz he's a nutjob.

That slight lean you're talking about on the vehicle...

Have you noticed how many pickups lean? I swear they all lean and that goes for some new ones as well... almost as if most are leaning to the left?

I understand yours got damaged but I swear thay shit leans straight from the factory!

Unplanned adventures often lead to the best ones right!

!BEER

Yeah, my Ford Ranger did that but it was intrinsic to the vehicle once a 2" lift was put on (I put an Old Man Emu lift on it.) With my Landcruiser I wanted it level. The KDSS levels it out when on sides slopes and the fact that it was out on level ground did my head in.

When I had the GVM upgrade and 2" lift put on my Landcruiser I measured it (from the bottom of the rim) and it was only a millimetre out left to right so I know it was right. After the fix was done on the anti-roll bar it was out. My mechanic didn't mind levelling it...I spend enough coin there so he likes to keep me happy.

And yep, the unplanned adventures often are the best ones...even when things break on one's fucken 4x4. Lol.

Nah for sure, that would bug the crap out of me daily!!

The suspension being slightly off would annoy me too if I paid for it to be done. I don’t mind paying for something like that and won’t fault the guys for not making it perfect but I will just make sure it gets adjusted as best it can. 2mm is pretty precise!

Shopping with my son adds a level of fun and adventure - he pushes the cart and sometimes crashes into people. Sometimes it’s okay but other times it’s a nasty old person and it ends up being a little argument. Not fun lol

It annoys me because it's not right and I need my four wheel drives to be good to go anywhere at all times. It's right now so I'm happy, 2mm is imperceptible visually and will make no difference to the handling.

he pushes the cart and sometimes crashes into people.

You should train him to crash into all the hotties. (Just saying.)

Yeah, might be considered annoying, maybe for some others, not for me mate, my girl sometimes tells I go to deep in some details of certain things to be done, but that's the way I am, can do nothing about it, I like things done the way I consider it right, otherwise I'm not comfortable about it. Greetings

One must be comfortable with who they are and how they operate so I get it; preparation and organisation help bring productivity and efficiency.

I totally agree, but sometimes I think I really cross the line.😁

If you move the line it'll be easier not to cross it.

Yeah, I guess so.

Still, I managed not to slay anyone and the shopping got done.

I did the same thing the other day and will try to make it happen again on Monday when I make the missing compas.

In my case I have several things planned for both Sunday and Monday... and Tuesday as well. Then I'll relax a bit.

Maybe... Or maybe not though.

Yer weird. 😂🤣😂

Great for you. I’m not a right person for planing :(

Thank you. Some plan and some do not and I guess achieve results commensurate with their actions.

Yeah thank you, I agree 🙏🏻
