I like winter but my garden doesn't look its best in those months. It doesn't snow here but gets cold and that means the garden struggles to look as good as it does the rest of the year. Having said that, I'm waiting for all the winter bulbs to come up and when they do it will look pretty good indeed. That'll get me through to spring and then the garden will start to come alive once again...at the moment it's not so good.
On Sunday I was out there evaluating things and trying to cajole the bulbs to hurry the fuck up with some kind words of support; it didn't work very well but I decided to pluck a flower or two with the intent to put them into my lightbox and point the camera at them to see what I might be able to get. I showed some black and white ones on Sunday night and here's a few of the colour photos I took.
Because I didn't want to bore you to death I pulled out my lightboard thingy which is small board that plugs into a power source and lights up...that's why they call it a light board obviously. I don't know what I was hoping for but I snapped a few images and while they're not so good I figured I'd share a few.
Just remember, I'm trying not to bore you to death here but if you happen to die of boredom blame yourself for not clicking out to someone else's post.
That's it for today, just a few shots and some random words. I'm looking forward to my garden coming out in its winter bloom which will give me some enjoyment and maybe some more stuff to photograph...and bore you to death with.

Hi Galen, I remember those black and white photos and I remember I didn't say anything to you. Normally I like more black and white in photography, but for this time I, the photo that I like the most is the last one you posted today with its yellow and purple colors.
And everything comes at the right time, when it touches .... there is a saying around here that goes:
“It doesn't matter how early you get up; "It doesn't dawn any earlier."
Have a great day, now I'm going for a walk....
Best regards.
They look pretty good right? I tried to do something different with the light board...I'm not sure if it looks as good as it did in my head, but I had fun and that's what counts.
I don't know what's in your head, the pictures looked good. And, of course, the main thing is to enjoy making the creation (at least that's what I think).
Some might nothing, but it could be just a walnut. 👇
It looks like a brain, something rare in a head. Try to keep it.😁
Well, I think a walnut is better than nothing at all right?
I guess that's true, that a nut is better than nothing.
I'll see you later, I have to get on with my business... Regards
You really do not want to bore us to death though, do you? Who would then read and comment on your posts? LOL
So, on the topic b&w vs color this gets really difficult since they are not the same photos. Of the color ones I really like the top one, the perfect middle of the reflection is perfect(ly imperfect). The other color ones are good, too, just not great, great - in my opinion - please let me know if this German is being too direct - though I do like all the reflections in the photos.
Overall, I do prefer the b&w versions of your shoot. There's just something magic about leaving it all to shape and values and leaving out the color.
I hope you don't have to wait too long for the bulbs to do their business.
Well, I didn't really want to bore anyone to death although with all of my posts that's a possibility I suppose. If people keep responding then I know they're alive. 🤔
Thanks for your comments and opinion whi h makes total sense. It's incredible the way colour or the lack of it can impact on a person and I think it's cool because it allows our creative side to emerge in different ways.
I went outside today, a cold, windy and wet winters day, and gave those bulbs a little talking to, nothing too firm, just a little motivating chat...I think they'll respond.
I'm actually amazed that you do have these flowers blooming during winter time. Yeah, I know Oz winters are nothing like the ones further north on the other side of the equator (or south) but still, those are some very pretty blooms.
I put it down to my awsomosity. 😆
I kinda have a huge garden in the farm, as it is full of olive and fruit trees, but my intention is to create a small flower garden around the tiny house once it is finished.
Meanwhile, I enjoy the sound of every lemon or fig, hitting the ground when they fall from the tree as they are ripe.
I have a lemon tree too, quite a few frit trees actually, and I enjoy eating them!
It'll be nice for you to add a few flowers and I assume you'll post about it when you do. ✅
As far as wintertime garden goes, those are some really vibrant colors.
I personally really like the morning frost that comes on the flowers when it starts getting colder towards wintertime.
If it gets cold there in your region but doesn't snow, do you still get the cool morning frost or not ?
It gets to about zero Celcius, sometimes a little lower, sometimes but not often. Usually winter nights are 2-10C. We get frost and ice on things though when cold enough and it's actually snowed up in the hills occasionally but not like you'd have.
Now this got me laughing, beautiful humour you got here.
These pictures are beautiful, you did a good job with the photograph.
I have a sense of humour sometimes I guess, like most people. Thanks for commenting on my photos...I'm glad you didn't die of boredom. 🫣
Those are some really nice looking flowers! My garden is a hot mess right now. We were gone for 13 days and although I had someone mow our lawn, they didn't do anything with the weeds in the garden. I'll need to get to that this weekend.
I know what you're doing this weekend then, maybe do a post...titled, my apocalyptic garden!
Thanks for your comment on my images.
Yeah, it's definitely a hot mess. We told the girl that did our lawn we would pay her extra if she pulled the weeds, but either she forgot or it wasn't worth it to her!
Lol, depends what you were paying and how old she was. You know these young folk, they want the corner office and a one million dollar salary on day one out of school.
Yeah, that is true. We actually never gave her a price, I think she was just happy to have some gas money!
Well....it doesn't bore me... I just try to look and see what's under the flower that makes it look like a mirror and gives such a nice effect!
It also gives the feeling that the flower is drawn and has a special outline and shine.
The second picture is my favourite one but all of them are very... how to say... different. That background makes them special as if they were a drawing.
I love it!
The garden will bloom and we will enjoy more colours and beautiful things.... of boredom nothing!
Oh good, another person who didn't die of boredom! ✅
Never! I love flowers!
Hi @galenkp! These flowers are pretty. It looks prettier because you are a good photographer. Btw, what are the names of the flowers? I haven't seen it before. Thanks for sharing these wonderful photos of you; it doesn't make me bored.
These flowers are called daisies.
Thanks for your favourable comments, I appreciate it greatly.
Wow! I never thought that those were daisies. The daisy here in the Philippines looks different. 😊
You're welcome! 🤗
There's many different varieties, over 20,000 species so it's unsurprising you've not seen some.
Truly amazing! 😍 Maybe I should start looking on the internet. Thankies❤️
Oh how pretty! The lightboard is new to me and I love the effect it brings to the photos. The simplicity of a single blossom is very soothing to the eye and it calms the soul as well.
P.S. I'm still alive
Well now, at least one person wasn't bored to death, or lasted long enough to make a comment before expiring completely from boredom. I'm happy. 😊
I was playing around trying to get something interesting and because I didn't want to pluck a heap of flowers decided I'd see how I went with just one...seemed to come out ok right?
I'm glad you like the shots and find them calming.
You did a top notch justice to this pictures. I have no doubt that you really knows how to manipulate your camera to get the best shot. Keep it up
Thanks for taking the time to comment.
Did you use any effects on these? If no, then it's insane that it looks so trippy. The first one looks hand drawn, especially the petals. The second one looks CG, or AI made. I guess I'm not familiar with the flow, and the multiple colors are confusing me. The 3rd and 4th photos are more realistic looking, although I really love how vibrant the colors on the 4th one is. These are really nice. Thanks for sharing them.
No "effects" and no editing, straight out of the camera. I hate all that fucken shit.

Including the reflection is always cool. It's possible I'm poorly traveled but I find myself wondering if other countries have these flowers.
Did we import them, or did we find them here? I know we have a few natives, particularly iconic ones like the Sturt Desert Pea; I wonder if they've been exported overseas and there's some poorly traveled foreigner admiring them in his home country, wondering if I've ever seen one.
Yeah, that was a happy coincidence really...any good photos I take are actually.
I'm not sure if daisies are native, I'd say not though...but what do I know?
As for the Sturt Desert Pea, it's definitely native although maybe some thieving bastard stole one and took it overseas!
There's loads of important factors.
