More shit photography

I like to be consistent and I think I achieve it; I'm talking about my photography and what my sub-optimal skills produce by way of photographs. I enjoy having a play around, twiddling knobs and buttons on my Olympus camera, but I don't expect to produce anything of any great standard; I'm happy with the mediocre results, a consistent averageness, that my skills produce and I think that's enough for me...I'm content with that.

Rather than the peaks and troughs that come with great results and bad ones I tend to float somewhere in between just sort of moving along on a trajectory of mediocre results that neither excite or disappoint...I know what to expect from the outset and rather than set that expectation high I just live in the moment and gain enjoyment from the process itself rather than putting pressure on the results.

Anyway, here's a few I took the other day, spectacularly average, and quite probably well below average...but exactly what I expected.

I'm kind of the same way, I like having all the buttons and modes, but I usually end up getting better photos when I let the camera do all the work! One day I hope to have a proper camera and I will try to sit down with my dad and have him go over all of it with me. Probably something I should have done sooner rather than later! I've never really had a camera where I needed all of that terminology kicking around my head.

Being happy with the process, enjoying it, is what's the most important thing...no point taking it all too seriously...hence the new community I created. https://peakd.com/c/hive-181290/created

Awesome, I will have to go check it out and subscribe. I definitely have a lot of crappy photos in my library!

At some point in life, when a person realizes that with his life and way of behaving, he should not satisfy others' expectations, but to satisfy only his own, only then he starts to enjoy what he does and how he lives.
If you like what you're doing, that's the most important thing (for you, you shouldn't care what others think).

These photos are superb in my opinion. Exactly what I would expect from a man who pays attention to details (you). But does it matter what I like/dislike and what I expect... No...😀

You say it well.

Thanks for your comment and I hope you have a good weekend.

on a trajectory of mediocre results that neither excite or disappoint...

😂😄 I think I have been able to use this phrase at several moments in my life, but it's clear that I didn't know it until today.

So, press the buttons, turn the knobs and have fun, that's what photography is all about.

Sometimes turning knobs and pressing buttons, even if one doesn't know what they do can work out nicely. It's about the fun as you say and I get plenty of that.

Good enough.... that's how I look at my own photos, which are always just from my phone. Of course it's just for blogging and playing around.

You have some really good photos a lot of the time I think. The fiddling must be working.

Having fun doesn't necessarily mean the results produced by an activity have to have a high level of quality I guess...fun is its own reward right?

So far, twiddling buttons on my camera without any clue what they do seems to produce an average result and a lot of fun...that's good enough for me.

Shitography. That's the word you were looking for.

Haha, yeah indeed. I'm a good shitographer and a bloody below-average photographer. I'm ok with it.

I'll admit pictures of flowers aren't really my thing. But dammit dude, I can't resist a headline like that. Feel free to call these posts, "My Adventures in Shitography." I won't miss an episode lol.

Haha...one must engage with shitography adventure posts. Might make a new community up just for them.

This, is a great idea. It's also hilarious. Could be fun. Get out there and take the shittiest photos you can! Be the best shitogapher you can be!

That could work. Maybe encourage humor and ridiculousness as well as time goes by. If I was doing it, it would be a parody wednesday walk style post and I'd take pictures of bird shit and trash.

Wow, I don't think I've seen flowers this 'veiny'; I don't know the right term. They add a lot of character and provide a great contrast in colors. I think you were able to highlight the beauty of the flowers well. Good job.

Thank you, they are quite interesting flowers, really soft patals and as you say, they have a lot of "veins" which adds to the interest.

Thanks for commenting.

Actually these are awesome....and the best thing is you get the picture as you expected and you are consistent.

In the first picture I like how purple flower gives pink reflection effect 😍.

Thank you, I appreciate your comment and am glad you like the shots. I like that first picture as well, probably my favourite.

Good morning, Sir. I trill by the pictures. It's nice waking up to beautiful flower pictures. I must believe you are very happy today to use symbols of love and happiness for your post 🥰 Happy a lovely and happy day

That's a good shot! Being consistent to what you truly love will make you a successful photographer.

Two beautiful flowers of the same species, placed on the table and photographed. Amazing Photography

I see you've done it from behind too, that's great .... to show different angles of the flowers.

The shots are very nice.... very much!

Always in the activities the important thing is to enjoy the process, I was reading you and remembering my new project, how happy I was while I was in the process and now looking forward to see the results. Very excited!

Hugs Galen!

I like to think that if Australia were a proper mediocricy, that I'd have at least risen to the middle by now.

Haha, ambitions set firmly on a high level of averageness.
