Clock is ticking

I'm not counting the hours.

Maybe I am just a bit.

Ok, I know how long to the very second. (Not really)

My working year is winding down and the clock is ticking on the year 2025 generally. It's been a good one for me generally and from a professional standpoint, and I'll be able to look back on it with satisfaction that I did it well, progressed, achieved, owned the success and failures and generally put a decent year together.

But yep...I'm happy for the working year to end - it's been full on - one more week for me and to having three weeks off. I am keen to come back to a new year in which I'll chase the goals I've spent the last month determining, setting and planning for...but I'm looking forward to some time off too!

What about you? How has 2025 rolled out and what's in place for 2026?

Drop a comment below and let me know, talk about a success or failure and how you're going to make 2026 way better.

I have precisely three working days left before the break for two weeks. I am counting those bastarding days like no ones business.

It has been a good year, a trying one in many ways but if you caan make it to the end with most of everything intact then it has to count as a good one :O)

Three days? Beats the five I have to do next week although the last two 18th and 19th are different sort of days, not much happening and on the last day it's pretty much a big lunch and all. I'm counting the fucken minutes...I need these three weeks off!

I think if we can look back and feel the year was good that's good enough. I mean, things go wrong and could always be better but Titans like us make things as good as they can be and that's...well, it's good.

Those five will fly in, especially if the last two arent much of a muchness. I am hoping that my last day or so will be a bit more festive than it has been in the run up.

I hope you have a toperoo time mate. It is a good time to recharge and get ready for the next year of shenanigans!

Yeah, I think they will too. I mean, there's still work to do but with the end in sight it's all a little bit more acceptable.

Yeah, it's like a reward at the finish line 😃😃

Almost as good as scones, jam and clotted cream.

Oh man I miss that fucken tasty treat from when I was in the UK. We get it here of course, but the clotted cream over your way...just fucken glorious! (I'm not sure if it's the same in Scotlandia though, I've not been there.)

As most of the people it has been a year of lights and shadows, ups and downs, with the little kid the most effort is put in that work of grow him up... I still fail to find a house to buy, prices just skyrockets and I don't want to buy a cheap shitty house, can't do much besides keep searching

Interesting that the price of housing is skyrocketing there the same as here. For me it's a good thing because I have some however I know many people really struggling to find something to buy and raising the money to buy it. I bought my first house on 1997 (still own it) and the difference between what I paid and the current value is mindboggling.

Yep, the bigger issues are for young people, because basically you can buy a decent house only with the monetary help of parents but if they can't you are half screwed... Here too, my parents bought their house 4 years ago (not even that far away) and now the value is 60-70% higher

Bloody nuts. It's only going to get harder though. I was talking about this today with some blokes at work. Both don't own houses, I do. It was difficult because I want the prices to go up and up (selling in a year or so) but they need it to go down.

Might be a good time to sell, it's true that it might also go higher next years... I'm just wondering if they will go so high that no one can afford to buy one anymore

Affordability is a big issue. Once it reaches a point no once can afford them they will drop though. I'm hoping to be sold prir to then.

The Game Plan

Trying to upgrade the Prime Mover Power Unit. Getting ready to leave out at 8 am to have a truck salesman dealer look at it and possibly purchase it from me at around 9:30 this morning. Fingers crossed and Ya'll know what they say...

"Sounds like a plan."

APU New install 2017.jpeg

I got my fingers crossed for you...not the middle one on my left though...that one's flipping you the fucken bird! 😆

A great year. Beginning was rough, lots of work with Lily that made me neglecting the money making work, enough to have quality get way too low. But then I changed everything around, and now we're better than ever, with a good outlook for 2026.

Going to get the cafe part decorated and working, making me another passive income as I rent it out to a group of chefs that are already doing a great job. I'll just be lurking around, doing the garden and such nice things. Maybe some organizing and networking.

And that's just work. I'm really looking forward to the developments on a personal level, friends and family. But usually when I'm optimistic, it turns into a disaster, so... I guess I'll see 😅

It sounds like you're well on track, good to hear. So many don't reflect on the ending year and plan for the year ahead which limits what's possible in my opinion and experiences of such matters.

Good work on getting 2025 done and for having a vision for 2026.

I like doing that. I think it started after 2020. Writing down what I'm grateful for. Then definitely 2021, as a kind of report for the friends & clients that supported me in my efforts to both run the business and be a present father while far away, I wanted to let them know how that was going. Back then, it was twice a year, end of year and for my birthday in June.

It helped be realize my accomplishments, as well as those parts that I wasn't successful at. Motivation to keep on putting in the work.

That's really good of you sir, wish you best of luck for next year and you may also reach to your goals. And well if I talk about myself I have really learned lot of things and even the skills in 2025 now I have also set some goals, but the main thing is to keep myself better in next year compare to 2025....

I wonder what you learned and how it will help you attain your 2026 goals. Will you share it?

If I remember this year, I will tell you that it has been intense, very intense, where there has been a lot to resolve and it has been resolved satisfactorily, even on the economic level, so that next year will be much better. Of course, I still have to make some adjustments, but the path has been mapped out. From the outside it could look like a bad year, but those bad things turned into improvements, so it was great!

I was able to turn a fatality into a benefit and that's a great success.

A mapped out path is better than stumbling around in the dark like a wanker.

Totally agree!

2025 has been the best year of my life. 2026 starts with... jury duty. I've asked to defer due to having started the new job.

It's good to have a good year under the belt, helps select the tone for the next. Good luck with JD.

It didn't really go the way I had planned, but I can't complain. The time spent with friends and family was worth much more than the crypto bull run I was hoping would take place.

Yeah, crypto was a bit underwhelming this year but that's ok, not the end of the world for me, I never factor it in as anything but a bit of fun; those who factor it into their financial position are possibly flirting with danger.

Yes, it is more of a hobby for me as well.

That's the way to approach it. A hobby that could possibly, maybe pay.

I see in the comments where some set goals and say they did not achieve them all...

My goal every year, month, day is mandatory.

Try Not to Die!

I did achieve this goal. However the profit and equipment upgrade goals have been quite a struggle. I will do a post to explain why eventually.

Yep, I know it's been a struggle for you, you're a fighter though. #teamneverquit

Also, that Swayze movie, you remember what it's called?

Black Dog

Based on a true fatigued driver effect.

I have seen the black dog many times.

Some people call it the shadow man. For me it often takes the shape of a giant pothole or the road dissapearing into blackness. It will make you flinch or swerve and many times it will end you.

Randy Travis and Swayze had a great moment in that movie where he explains the phenomenon.

The Black Dog

Ah cool, I've seen it but couldn't recall the name.

Remember DVD's and going down the Blockbuster to get some for DVD night? Those were the data man. Fuck, I recall videos. Do n to Blockbuster for some videos, get snacks, hit the pizza bar and then home for video night.

And yes, driving for a living isn't easy, especially big rigs.

Well for me this year has really been good, the have been up's and downs but is still remains the best year for me, I archived so much This year and plans have been put in place for next year 2026, I wish and pray to achieve more by God's mercy and grace. Thank you for asking.

God won't help you achieve more, your own actions will; it's best to take an active role in your life.

I didn't say I won't work, I still need God's help to achieve whatever plans I have.

I started 2025 with 20 solid goals, and tbh, I just achieved 7 out of 20. For the rest 13, I just procrastinated and nothing else. My main goal was to change my job, although I am somewhat satisfied with teaching (part-time), but still, it drains a lot of my brain capabilities. I am currently tutoring matric students (9-10 class) and I wanted to go for college students. I applied and gave some interviews, but the age factor and with my degree still in progress (as I am a student too), I failed to achieve it. The second main goal was to finish 12 books, a book a month and once again, I just read 5 and half. Thirdly, I wanted to lift 150KG for deadlift and once again, just went for 130 from 110.

For Hive, I joined this platform in January and didn't even know that one can earn through it :) After two or three months, I came to know that the curated reward is the earning, and HP also do the magic.

But even with all these half-wuns and incomplete goals, I am optimistic for 2026. Already set my goals and promised myself not yo procrastinate this time. All I need to do is to get rid of this self-employed curse and I am good to go.

Peace 🕊

What processes do you have in mind to combat your procrastination and laziness in respect of your goals? Doing the same thing but expecting different results won't bring different results.

Already started December by deleting social media apps: Insta, Fb, Snapchat. Cancelled Netflix subscription, it will automatically save my time to do meaningful things and money as well—a win-win scenario. For the job part, yet to figure this aspect. Any suggestion?

Nice! That's an excellent start. Removing those things is probably the smartest thing you've done all year and I think it'll repay you handsomely in the new year.

I don't have much to add about the job thing, I don't know the full picture. Good luck with it though.

Hmm.. To be honest, I haven't really reflected on this until I read this post. Maybe it's because there's still 2 more weeks to go!

If I had to sum up the year, 2025 has been a transition year for me. On the surface, nothing much has changed, but deep down, I know I have made further progress towards my life journey and personal projects. I have done more reflections (partly thanks to Hive posts like these lol) and I have picked up new skills (like leveraging on AI tools to improve my personal life and at work as well).

I am actually looking forward to 2026. Have some vacations planned out and also looking forward for new life experiences if all goes well.
