Been there...and remember it

I was chatting with my partner today while outside doing some stuff in my garden and holidays came up, the great times we've had, funny and challenging moments, the amazing places we've been and things we've done and how they've stuck with us.

I was saying, with great shame, about how bad many of my photographs are. I look at them and think, what was I thinking!

Sure, the cameras I've had along the way haven't always been great but fucken fucking fuckety fuckballs my skills were bad. Fortunately over the years I've improved a little and the photos have too. I wish I could go back in time and retake them but I can't so we make do with what we have, the average photos and amazing memories they inspire. It's enough and we're content.

Anyway, I was thinking about what I thought might be one of the best holiday photos I've taken and had trouble narrowing it down.

Most of my favourites I'll not put on the internet as they have me and my partner in them but some I've shown over the years. It's difficult to narrow it down to just a few and narrowing down to only one seems impossible as there's so many I love. But thinking on it, it's not really the photos themselves that I love, it's where I was and what I was doing when they were taken that means the most.

With that in mind, I thought I'd share a few in this post and also invite y'all to do the same. If you have a photo you personally took, or one of yourself, from a holiday that takes you back to that moment and how you felt while experiencing it feel free to share it in the comments below. If you don't want to then don't.

I was just looking back at some photos—what a coincidence.

DJI_0957.JPG

This was an Australian submarine just off the coast of Rottnest Island, taken with my old drone. In fact, right after taking this shot, the drone decided to become a submarine too. 😓 (Battery gave up)

King George River, Kimberley—the most beautiful river to this day. Highly recommendable, plenty of tour boats go there.

DJI_0550.JPG Stranded? Nope! Catamarans make it easy to beach the boat, and with 6-7 metre tides in Western Australia, we can clean the boat, get our full speed back, and save fuel.

I had never shared these photos before—I forgot about them, in fact. It looks like you had some great holidays; I really like the photos. I really want to explore a bit of Europe, but that will probably involve more land travel. Thank you for sharing.

You've been to some of the most beautiful parts of Australia which most never get to see so well done! I love Australia and it's because of places like this.

Australia has something special. I hope to come back soon.

I just converted this one to black and white and I am having it printed on a canvas so we can hang it either in our house or at my office. I have a ton of good ones over the years. I like that my cloud storage sends you reminders every couple of years. Like hey, remember when you went to this awesome place? That gives us the opportunity to relive those moments on the fly.

Great photo and well worth a printing!

Many many years ago. When me and my parents traveled to the sea.

I thought that this was in a place called Hill of Witches but my mother says that I was wrong and this is in some park. The sad thing is that at this point I don't even remember how my dad looked without looking at photos. I recognize some people I know like my mother or our neighbors when I meet them but I would have a very hard time describing how they look... I blame my mental issues for this. At this point I am quite accustomed to not having friends. But my memory getting worse is quite bothersome and scary.

It's good to have photos to trigger the memory a little and the help take one back to the good times. Thanks for sharing.

They all look professional to me or is there something wrong with my eyes? Definitely not!
The memories behind each photo is the most beautiful thing about them.

It's about the memories right? How about you, any photos that take you back to a favourite holiday moment?

These ones were taken on a weekend I spent with a very 'special friend, a weekend to remember and then we went to the cinema for some movies. Beautiful memories, yes.

Holidays year 2009 visiting my best friend and sister in life Claudia, in Monte Hermoso, it was winter but we still enjoyed the weather with walks on the beach and in an area called El Pinar. I got to know the house they built with her husband and spent some beautiful days. Their town is 180 km from where I lived back in Argentina.

Nice ocean view and I love the woods so that's a great photo too. Thanks for sharing.

I went to look for my external hard drive .... they had to be there!!!!

I lost a lot of my photos from my travels, back when you had to get the film processed. So many got damaged when water got into my housebus. It really upset me. But at the end of the day, I do have wonderful memories.
Here are some from my first trip to Mexico, over 24 years ago, I took a picture of them, so that I can share them now.

photo_2024-08-11_14-12-13.jpg

The top two are from Palenque, when I went to visit the Mayan ruins and my first time in the jungle, which was a huge moment for me. I stayed there for a 2 weeks.
The beach one, is from Tulum, when I got to stay in one of the huts on the beach. They are all gone now I hear as the whole coast has been developed and it's full of very expensive resorts, which is a nightmare for me. So glad I went before that all happen. xx

I have the Mayan ruins on my hit list and hope to make it happen. As for Tulum, yeah I've heard it's fully developed now and not somewhere I'd be keen on going; a shame how how the good spots get ruined like that.

It's actually happening with one of Australia's little adventures called the Gibb River Road in northern Western Australia; they're paving it and just like that goes one more of life's adventures.

A great camera does the trick sometimes. Now that im on hive, i learned that mundane subjects could be a masterpiece, depending on what it means to you.

I think it makes a little difference for sure, although framing thew subject correctly helps too. Thanks for commenting.

You took so many beautiful photos that look like full professional, really enjoyed

Yeah, a few good ones in the bunch huh?

I do like the one with the starry heaven in the night, that looks more profi than you are giving yourself credit for.

For me the the travel aint about the shots. The shots help you remember how awesome the trip was

Thanks, at least you like one of them, and yeah it's about the memories right?

hahaha... there are more than one that I like! Also love the blue sky with clouds combos.

The memories are screaming "this was a good Euro-trip"

I know, I was just being silly. 😬

These photos were taken all over the world and I've got so many more...I've been fortunate to have travelled extensively and I hope to do some more too.

We keep improving each day on the activities we do, that's it about life, but most surprising part would be, those photos you think were not good enough back in those years, someone somewhere might be adoring them.
I barely do photo taken, I might as well get a camera and learn it, we can learn anytime we get ready for a thing.
Thereafter, those photos are beautiful 🥰🙏

Maybe one day you'll get a camera and have a play around with taking some photos. Good luck.

Thanks so much 🥰🙏
