Inktober is a drawing challenge that involves creating a drawing every day in October based on a series of words or phrases. It encourages people to draw and improve their drawing skills. It was created by Jake Parker and was originally a challenge where participants had to draw with ink and, obviously, using traditional methods, but over the years people have participated using a variety of materials, both traditional and digital. This year, I decided to complete the House of Wizard Inktober challenge, and I will be following each daily theme to the letter.

Inktober es un reto de dibujo, el cual consiste en hacer un dibujo cada día del mes de octubre, mediante una serie de palabras o frases. Incentivando a las personas a dibujar y mejorar en el dibujo. Fue creado por Jake Parker y originalmente es un reto en donde la persona tiene que dibujar con tinta y evidentemente en tradicional, pero a lo largo de los años las personas participan con diversos materiales, ya sea en tradicional o digital. Para este año, me propuse terminar el Inktober de House of Wizard y es el que estaré siendo al pie de la letra cada tema diario.

As of today, I wasn't sure if I was going to participate, since I couldn't come up with a good idea for the theme, which is “Nightmare Imp.” Looking at the reference they attached to the list, I came up with something that I will now show you below, along with the entire process of how I managed to create something for today.

Hola gente bonita! ¡Espero estén súper bien todos y si no lo están, pronto lo estarán! Para el día de hoy, no sabia si iba a participar, ya que no me llegaba una idea buena para el tema, el cual es "Nightmare Imp". Viendo la referencia que anexaron a la lista, se me ocurrió hacer algo que ahora les mostrare a continuación todo el proceso de como logre hacer algo para este día.

The truth is, I said, I'm not going to do a full-body character, I'd better do a portrait, which is something I love to do, and that way I won't screw it up, since I had previously done a full-body character and I didn't like how it turned out, so much so that I discarded it and didn't even share it here.

La verdad es dije, no voy a hacer un personaje cuerpo completo, mejor hago un retrato, que es algo que me encanta hacer y así no la cago, ya que anteriormente había hecho un personaje cuerpo completo y no me gusto como quedo, tanto así que lo descarte y ni siquiera lo compartí por acá.

My idea was to incorporate all the elements of the original character into my portrait: the horns, the wings, and the spiked club. As for the character itself, I gave it a super-long tongue that was licking the club and a somewhat playful expression.

Mi idea era integrar todos los elementos que tiene el personaje original en mi retrato. Los cuernos, las alas y el mazo con pinchos. En cuanto al personaje, lo que hice fue hacerlo con una lengua super larga que estuviera lamiendo el mazo y con un expresión medio juguetona.

After finishing the sketch, I remove the excess graphite pencil with an eraser and begin to paint it a little. I add the shadows, then I add more details in certain areas, and finally I add the tears to the character. I do everything from the least pigmented with the paint to the most pigmented. Remember that in traditional painting there is no “Ctrl+Z.”

Luego de haber terminado el boceto, le quito el exceso de lápiz grafito con un borrador y comienzo a pintarlo un poco. Voy agregando las sombras, luego voy agregando mas detallas en ciertas zonas y al lo ultimo agrego las lagrimas en el personaje. Todo lo voy haciendo desde lo menos pigmentado con la pintura a lo mas pigmentado, recuerden que en el tradicional no hay "Ctrl+Z".

I finish the drawing by adding some highlights and my signature, and that's it, friends, that's all there is to it. This drawing is definitely going straight to my favorites, and to think I wasn't going to participate because I didn't have a clear idea.

Termino el dibujo agregando algunos brillos y mi firma y listo amigos, eso seria todo. Este dibujo va directo a mis favoritos sin duda y pensar que no iba a participar por no tener clara alguna idea.
