🌿 Inspiration 🌿

With the desire to draw and the desire to experiment with black and white, I took a pencil and started with something simple, just a face a little different from what I'm used to.

*Although I've spent so much time changing that I don't even know what I'm used to, and I like that, that not everything is the same.

Maybe I put some, a little, or too much of me in this illustration. I will never say how much, only because it makes me feel vulnerable in front of those who really know how to read me as if I were an open book.

🌼 The Process 🌼

With the pencil I went weaving one by one each curl until I had that lush hair formed, I knew I could die trying to paint it but imagining it ready was already a delight.

Before embarking on those stormy waves of hair, I began by giving some life and depth to the eyes and nose, perhaps the thought that my work would have some life before I finished it would encourage me to continue it.

And so it was...

So with patience but perseverance I tried a curl first.

Once I was done with that innocent and tender face I was filling in each hair, putting together each wavy and shiny curl. The penciled blush made it stand out without a doubt, highlighting an innocence that, although unbecoming of her age, is still something precious and appreciated by those who really matter.

The afro was undoubtedly what took me the longest to do, even the pencil I used was reduced to the size of my little finger with only this part.

From her hair peek out several plants, among them daisies and dandelions, these are often approached by butterflies, bees and even hummingbirds from time to time.

In your hands is this little eye plant that looks back at you with equal or greater curiosity.

Once the hair was ready I could let out a sigh of tranquility, the herbs that grew from it were also ready.

Now it was time for the rest, which I must say, was no small thing.

After finishing the suspenders and partially shading the shirt, I moved on to the hands, which I painted with just a few soft touches of the swab I used to blend and then going over a little more with the pencil.

I would also take the opportunity to finish the pot.

Those hands fill me with a great peace, seeing how he holds with so much care that pot in which something so dear and fragile to him is found.

The pant would now seem a challenge, however soon and after covering much of the surface, it was enough to lighten the rest of the job.

I improvised a notebook and pencil there.

The rabbit and the toucan I would leave for later.

I would continue with this plant, I really don't know its name, I just know that it is considered a weed.

Although I would not deny that it has a certain charm, like a dandelion but little more rustic. The smaller plant next to it however, is made up.

I see it very often, as it grows daily in my house, so it could not fail to have a participation in one of my works.

Let's take some time to appreciate this tender little snail.

Behind the plants I also added a couple of amanita mushrooms so as not to lose the habit.

Once I had those elements ready, I moved on to the rabbit, toucan and butterfly.

To tell the truth the rabbit was the simplest, I added this little animal because my mom raises these animals for sale and it was the inspiration to place it there.

On the other hand, the toucan is my favorite animal, which is not unusual since I usually include it in several drawings.

Lastly would be this blue morpho butterfly, which is accompanying the one that seems interested in the flowers in the boy's hair.

I started adding textures to the background, starting with the tree that the prince is leaning against, filling it with lines that began to draw its bark.

I wanted to try also to make the grass with this texture because although this is the second time I do it, I am still a little reluctant, is it normal? I remember drawing the grass like this when I was in elementary school.

And I hated it...

Once the trunk of the tree was finished, I continued with the others, having the bushes already made.

I tried using an inkless pen to highlight on the cardstock and got this cool effect on the treetops.

Once the sky was painted and some details with white paint, I was able to finish this work, which I accompanied with a small poem.

The little dandelion, prince of his thoughts, is surprised; he has found something (or someone) that has managed to capture his attention, he is different from everything he has seen and everything he knows (or has ever known) so much so that he wanted to take care of him and have him stay by his side for the rest of his life.

But sooner rather than later he will discover that things are not forever...

Con los ánimos para dibujar a flor de piel y las ganas de experimentar con el blanco y negro, tomé un lápiz y comencé por algo simple, solo un rostro un poco diferente a lo que acostumbro.

Aunque he pasado tanto tiempo cambiando que ya ni se lo que acostumbro, y eso me gusta, que no todo sea igual.

Quizás puse algo, un poco, o demasiado de mí en esta ilustración. No aseguraré nunca la cantidad, solo porque me hace sentir vulnerable frente a quienes realmente saben leerme como si fuera un libro abierto.

🌼 El Proceso 🌼

Con el lápiz fuí tejiendo uno a uno cada rizo hasta tener esa frondosa cabellera formada, sabría que podría morir en el intento de pintarla pero imaginarla lista ya de por sí era un deleite.

Antes de embarcarme en aquellas tormentosas olas de cabellos, comencé por darle algo de vida y profundidad a los ojos y a la nariz, quizás el pensar que mi obra tendría algo de vida desde antes de terminarla me animaría a continuarla.

Y así fue…

Por lo que con paciencia pero constancia probé con un rizo primero.

Una vez terminé con aquel inocente y tierno rostro fui rellenando cada cabello, armando cada rizo ondulado y brillante. El sonrojo hecho a lápiz lo hacía resaltar sin duda, resaltar una inocencia que, aunque impropia de su edad; sigue siendo algo preciado y apreciado por quienes en verdad importa.

El afro fue sin duda lo que más tarde en hacer, incluso el lápiz que utilizaba quedó reducido al tamaño de mi dedo meñique con solo esta parte.

De su cabello asoman varias plantas, entre ellas margaritas y dientes de león, a estas suelen acercarse mucho las mariposas, abejas e incluso colibrís de vez en cuando.

En sus manos está esta pequeña planta ojo que le devuelve la mirada con igual o mayor curiosidad.

Una vez el cabello estuvo listo pude soltar un suspiro de tranquilidad, en conjunto también estaban listas las hierbas que crecían de este.

Ahora tocaba el resto que he de decir, tampoco era poca cosa.

Tras terminar los tirantes y sombrear parcialmente la camisa, pasé a las manos, las cuales pinte con apenas suaves toques del hisopo que usaba para difuminar y luego repasando un poco más con el lápiz.

También aprovecharía de terminar con la maceta.

Esas manos me llenan de una gran paz, al ver como sostiene con tanto cuidado aquella maceta en la que se encuentra algo tan querido y frágil para el.

El pantalón parecería ahora un desafío, sin embargo pronto y tras cubrir gran parte de la superficie, fue suficiente como para aligerar el resto del trabajo.

Improvisé un cuaderno y un lápiz allí.

El conejo y el tucán los dejaría para luego.

Seguiría con esta planta, en verdad no sé su nombre, solo se que es considerada una mala hierba.

Aunque no negaría que tiene cierto encanto, como un diente de león pero poco más rústico. La planta más pequeña a su lado sin embargo, es inventada.

Suelo verla muy seguido, ya que crece a diario en mi casa por lo que no podía no tener una participación en alguna de mis obras.

Tomemos un tiempo para apreciar a este tierno y pequeño caracol.

Atrás de las plantas agregué también un par de hongos amanita para no perder la costumbre.

Una vez con esos elementos listos pase a dedicarme al conejo, tucán y mariposa.

Ha decir verdad el conejo fue lo más simple, agregué este pequeño animal ya que mi mamá cría estos animales para la venta y pues, fue la inspiración para colocarlo allí.

En cambio, el tucán es mi animal favorito, no es raro ya que suelo incluirlo en varios dibujos.

Por último estaría esta mariposa morpho azul, la cual está acompañando a la que parece interesada en las flores del cabello del chico.

Empecé a agregar texturas al fondo, comenzando por el árbol del que el príncipe se apoya, llenándolo de líneas que comenzaron a dibujar su corteza.

Quise probar también hacer el pasto con esta textura ya que aunque está es la segunda vez que lo hago, sigo algo renuente ¿Es normal? Recuerdo dibujar el pasto así cuando estaba en primaria.

Y lo odiaba…

Una vez con el tronco del árbol terminado, continué con los demás teniendo los arbustos ya hechos

Probé usar un bolígrafo sin tinta para remarcar en la cartulina consiguiendo este genial efecto en las copas de los árboles.

Una vez con el cielo pintado y algunos detalles con pintura blanca, pude dar por terminado esta obra que acompañe de una pequeña poesía.

El pequeño diente de León, príncipe de sus pensamientos, se encuentra sorprendido; ha encontrado algo (O alguien) que ha logrado captar su atención, es diferente a todo lo que ha visto y todo lo que conozca (O haya conocido) tanto así que quiso cuidarle y que se quedara a su lado para toda su vida.

Pero más temprano que tarde descubrirá que las cosas no son para siempre…
