Hello Lions,
This month is going so busy for me as apart from doing my daily tasks, I am also partaking in the Leofinance X Zealy campaign and enjoying doing the quest missions to earn XP. There are multiple different types of quests that involve writing posts, engaging others with threads, sharing photos and writing stories etc. and one of those quest series is based on Art where we have to draw or design images based on certain themes. Now I am nowhere near being a professional artist myself but till my school days, used to love drawing. During school and college days, I guess everyone has to draw certain things in their practical notebooks, be it an animal for biology or certain tools or experiments in physics and chemistry and all of us have done that in our scholarly days. But it's a long time since I completed graduation and since then, I haven't touched penciling my hand, to be honest. However, as I saw this Arist quest series, a little inspiration stuck in me again to hold those drawing tools. I have already done the first 2 quests of this series and used Canvas to make decent digital images and somehow luckily I got passed with both of them, as they were rookie level. But for the next intermediate level, I wanted to do something better and after thinking a little, I finally pull my drawing instruments out and started my artwork.
Step 1
I took an A4 size paper and thought about an image to draw a main lion at the center and at below his face, there will be the whole pack roaming around him. So I draw a horizontal line for the main Lion and a vertical line for his packs.
Step 2
I started my work by drawing the Lion's face first and mane around his face. After some drawing and erasing, I finally came up with this one which I like and it also resembles a lion decently. I went wild with those manes and increased the length to give him an apex look, which I think justifies him as the leader of the group as well.
Step 3
After drawing the basic sketch of the leader Lion's face, I then started drawing the pack and my thought here was to include multiple Lions of different ages around the leader's feet. I started adding them from the left side.
Step 4
After I finished drawing those small lions at the lower portion, I came out adding 5 small lions as a final result where 3 of them are facing to the left side and the rest 2 on the right side. As you can see, to show a pack of different aged Lions, I mainly played with the thickness of their mane where one of them is without manes representing a cub and others with half-grown or full-grown manes representing young lions.
Step 5
After some little changes and erasing the vertical and horizontal lines from the background, I finally become satisfied with the outline sketch. Then as my next process, I started the shading process to give my drawing a bold and complete look. I start shading with the Leader Lion's mane and then his face and as you can see, the shading is bringing some life to my dull base sketch.
Step 6
After filling the Leader Lion's face and manes with 2 color tone shades, I started working on the small lions at the lower part. To be honest I was not fully satisfied with the center lions facing left but even after trying to rectify them, I could only go this much as my best which you can see in the picture below.
Step 7
After I complete the whole shading process, the picture turned out like this as you can see below. While the Leader Lion is looking marvelous, the small lions on both sides are decent and the center ones are obviously below average. Please note that I already said I am not a pro artist lolz ππ ! So this is my best output and I hope you are not mad to see this as an art post!
Step 8
After I finished the previous shading step, I wanted to add something to increase the contrast and make the image more eye catchy. So I ended up adding a circle at the back of the Main lion in the background. I wanted to add something that resembles a big Sun behind the lion, but the circle went too big to be a sun. However, as it was matching with the picture I decided to keep it as it is. So, this is my final drawing and I hope you enjoyed the art.
I hope you liked following the process and my final output. I hope the judges also like my art and don't throw it away π . Let me know your feeling and thoughts in the comment section below and I will be seeing you all in my next post!
