I'm glad to have the opportunity to participate in round 319 of the Splinterlands Weekly Contest. I've been a bit short on time, but this afternoon I was able to get some work done in time to sit down and draw. I'll tell you that this illustration made me get out of my comfort zone. I like that lately, because it helps me experiment with different techniques, textures and styles. Sometimes I don't get exactly the results I want, but that's good too, it's practice.
One of the things that I found most difficult to do was fire. I had previously done magical or similar effects, but I had not been able to create a fire that I was satisfied with. For this character that I really liked, I needed fire because it is one of the most notable characteristics of the character. So I started to investigate, to figure out how to achieve or at least get close to an effect that would satisfy me.
Inspiration, Original Splinterlands Art:
Let's quickly see Drawing process:
Initially I made a quick sketch, then I gave the shape a foundation to form the character. I have placed some of the basic characteristics of the character as inspiration, I also used part of the color palette. After outlining and cleaning, I established the base colors. Then I started with the details.
On this occasion, after having almost finished, I went back to the sketch layer and made more details. I felt that there were missing lines, details. One of the last most noticeable details is in the hair, I liked the little strands that come out like loose hairs.
