Happy Holidays Alien Art Hive | A Mixed Media Art Project

Another year has almost come to a close in our online life. I can honestly say, from my perspective, that it's the acquaintances we make help working online an enjoyable experience.

Although we celebrate Christmas only a few days away, I wanted to wish all Alien Art Hive Community members happy holidays, no matter how you celebrate.

I wanted to share a design I created for this holiday occasion.

Instead of the bright winter scene, I wanted to approach the theme as a simple holiday greeting with a dark background. For this reason I chose an angel of color. A lovely even-toned, exotic woman with highlighted braiding. Her pose is contemplative.

The surrounding elements signifying the holiday is also subdued. Some may say it's not as exciting as elves, reindeer, snowmen, and a representation of Santa all scurrying about. My pure fractal I created in the advanced fractal rendering program, Apophysis 7X, provided a flowing effect in the eclipse. However, anyone who follows me know that I love dark and dramatic.

To combine these elements, I utilized Canva, my design program. I leave with you my procedures which begin with a blank, white canvas. I then add layers of elements in accordance with my upgraded Annual Pro Membership that includes tools to remove backgrounds, colorize, resize, filter, duplicate, and reposition items as required.

• To a blank, white canvas, I added the skyline eclipse image. Enlarged it to fill the top portion of the screen;
• Added the building image as the background scene; removed its background; then resized;
• Added bottom landscape image to depict to winter scene. Colorized to resemble a brown hue;
• Added female image. Resized and positioned her in the center of the scene;
• Added the angel, reindeer, my fractal, and ornaments, positioning them around the canvas.
• Revisited all elements applying filters and effects as necessary to complete the project.
