Dystopian Halloween Party | A Mixed Media Art Project

Apophysis-DystopianHalloweenParty.gif

Circumstances may change due to world events. But keeping traditions as best we can should be attempted. Traditions such as important holidays can be observed in whatever way is possible at that time.

When I think of Halloween, I remember reading that, in the distant past when the event was celebrated, it was done so as a all hallows day, a time of thanks for the plentiful harvest dedicated to thanking the saints for their good fortune. Over time, people have turned the tradition into other meanings to suit their beliefs. Dark and ominous beings, as well as folklore accompanied these changes

Sometimes I imagine whether traditions will still be observed in the far future or whether they will be tossed aside. Perhaps they will evolve into other events that suit society at that time.

For my current mixed media art project, I utilized several stable diffusion and generative art programs to produce the images appropriate for the holiday. I also utilized the program MOSHED to incorporate animation into my scene for the dragon rider image.

Other images I included to complete my Halloween scene were of the now traditional pumpkin for the Fall season, together with magical and elements and a scary scene that depicts a future dystopian era.

I then utilized Canva to blend the different type images. I leave with you my procedures which begin with a blank, white canvas. I then add layers of elements in accordance with my upgraded Annual Pro Membership that includes tools to remove backgrounds, resize, filter, duplicate, and reposition items as required. Perhaps of all the tools, the ability to remove backgrounds thereby creating transparencies of the images is crucial to the blending process.

This is such an amazing and creative project! I love how you’ve combined the traditional Halloween elements with a futuristic dystopian twist. The mixed media approach really brings out a unique and eerie atmosphere, especially with the incorporation of animation for the dragon rider. Your use of different programs like MOSHED and Canva to blend these images is super impressive, and the final result is so dynamic and eye-catching. It's fascinating to think about how traditions might evolve in the future, and your art really captures that idea. Great work—thanks for sharing!

I'm pleased you liked my theme of a traditional Halloween holiday, but with a futuristic dark twist. Yes, I love to incorporate different the images from different programs to see how well they blend together. So far, I've had success with this approach.

It is fascinating to visualize the future and whether traditions will still exist. But then, perhaps our ancestors thought the same thing. We still honor some; others have fallen away. Just celebrated in a different fashion.

Thanks so much for your visit and engagement. I appreciate it.

Hello, @justclickindiva I love the result, the spinning ball gives it that interactive touch, I would go to the party with my black catsuit… hahahahahahahaha

I think that in the future because of smartphones we are going to an isolated society having parties with an avatar.

Hello @eve66. Thanks for taking the time to stop by. You know, I do feel that you are correct in that future social events will be attended via other means available at that time. I can see sending my avatar to a party while I rest, lolol.

I can see you now in the black suit holding many of the alien objects you contributed to the #LIL. You'd steal the spotlight trying to explain where those "aliens" came from.

I appreciate your support. Take care and have a good rest of your week.

I really liked your image, but I'll tell you that I was like 5 minutes trying to identify what is the small image that is almost in the center, and moves, I thought it was a witch, then detail and I saw a kind of dragon, then I went back to the description of the images and you clarify that it is a dragon, the effect of this image I liked a lot

Yes, a dragon @layac13. I added this at the last moment because I'd already turned it into an animation. I thought the rotating image pulsating out would steer the focus elsewhere.

Thanks for your kind compliment for my project. I appreciate it, your engagement, and support. Take care.

Amazing details in this composition, every single detail between dark and light, it looks great!😍

I'm happy to hear you liked how my Halloween project turned out. I like the light and dark areas also that expose the elements lurking in the shadows. Thanks so much for your support and lovely compliment.

Take care.

It was a pleasure, I saw the play and it made an impact on me, I wanted to see it more closely! Have a nice day!💗

Well, as I am Venezuelan I did not know about the beginnings of this celebration, however I read about it a long time ago out of curiosity, and what I read more or less agrees with what you say about sanctity.

And in the image you can already feel your Halloween expressed in your art.

Yes, truly amazing @lanzjoseg how history and folklore can change the meaning of traditions to fit society's views at that time. I'm pleased you found my Halloween project to your liking.

Thanks for your visit and support. Take care.

Love the result my friend.

I'm so glad to hear you liked this Halloween themed project. I was hoping it wasn't too dark. I like spooky for fun and tried to incorporate different elements. I appreciate your visit and lovely compliment. Take care.

Thanks so much @eve66 for sharing my Halloween project. I appreciate it.

I like this Halloween-inspired collage with the subtle animation effect.

I liked how the animated dragon ball added suspense to the theme as if it was tumbling down from the wizard's hands. I appreciate you stopping by and viewing my project.

It brings attention to the scene for certain. That's why it works in that minimal way; it's not pulling attention in all directions (though that can also be used to good effect :)

Trippy art. If you read Niel Gaiman comic books (Sandman), that's what your art looks like 😀

Hello @logen9f. Although I loved comic books when younger, I've never heard of Niel Gaiman and Sandman. I'll look him up. Thanks so much for your visit. I appreciate it and your support.

Take care.

Oh, here's a sample. You can also watch The Sandman on Netflix. 😀

He kinda looks like Dr. Strange without the fire balls.
