Has anyone seen my cat
said Lady Pink.
I've looked for her everywhere
she sniffled, feeling a flutter of...was it feathers by her nose? Perhaps her new hat?
Don't utter a word
came the cat, peering down at the footman with piercing eyes of authority.
Where has Puss gone?
I had intended, when I spoke of this painting earlier in the month, to give the lady a fan and call it something like "Lady with a fan" giving the glaring off title, when one can't help but focus on her cat. Yet, as I was painting in, I sketched a few things in her hand and liked none, so I contented myself with the main colour of she and her feline companion and thus was born: Lady Pink.
If you don't recall, I shared her sketch and study in a previous post:
Digital Pencil and watercolor
As I've said many times, it's an Artist's prerogative to change one's mind
And so, the Lady doth remain fan-less...or some such nonsense as that.
I've begun to enjoy the more painterly backgrounds, in a rough underpainting stage. Their was to be clouds and possibly a mix of stars in her background.
But, as I underpaint and then build up layers of details at various stages I'm rather liking the pinpoints of focused detail here and there with the look of the 'painterly' accompanying it. Again, tho, one never knows. I might make an interation with the background painted in (see above quote about Artist's and their changeable habits)
I Love the trick of smudges and smears that together can make an eye glow
A streak of white or a dash of umber swirled in the pink you made to give the eye a crease.
The magic of color to give the illusion of depth and light and shadow
A trick of the eye, if you will...hopefully you will.
I hope you have enjoyed this 'finished' piece. I use inverted commas because this piece is 'done' (see I've done it again) And this piece will be 'finished' thus (such a bad habit) but I also consider the sketch and watercolor a 'finished piece' too. However, if on a rainy afternoon, I take this piece back out, she may, indeed, have a background of clouds and stars, or maybe I'll feel peevish that day and paint in clouds and a barren tree over some moors, who can say.
I can say, however, that this piece is 'done'
and I hope that you like it. I'll eventually have it as prints possibly and maybe, who can say, I'll find a 'sister' of her's for an #NFT one never knows.
Thank you for joining me today as we looked for mi'lady's cat and I hope you enjoyed the 'final' outcome of this piece.
I hope you find a moment in your day to indulge in your own passions and whimsies and as always, stay creative!

What a beautiful job Donna. I really like the expression of the Lady and the cat;they have a poker face. Very pretty. ✌️
Thank you so much @jamm42 I'd love to play poker with a cat on my head , wouldn't you ? haha.
Hahahahaha, I don't know how to play poker, but I like the idea of playing it with a cat on my head!
Spectacular work!!! I love cats and I really like animal paintings because they give them an exotic feel. I think I understand it's a digital painting, right? Pencil and watercolor, beautiful!!!
Yes, that's right @titti it's digiral oil and oil pastel. I work pretty much how I do in real oils on canvas, building it up. I use layers when sketching digitaly with pencil and watercolor but when doing oils digitaly I stay on one layer as then I can really smear and blend, much like on a real canvas. I've really grown to love the digital canvas, you can use palettel knives and all.
Very good thank you!!!
Hermoso trabajo amigo! Y excelente resultado final, me gusto mucho la técnica que implementaste esta increíble. Mucho éxito, un abrazo💓
Thank you so @sannae.art
I love her nonchalant look - as if that 20 lb feline laying on her head is elsewhere. :) What a wonderful piece, not at all run of the mill!
Love!
Yes, I wanted her to seem as if she is so used to piles of wigs or great 18th century fashionable hats with sailing ships on that a 20 lb cat on her head would seem like a headress of feathers LOL @dswigle
That is exactly the air she sent my way. :)
She looks like she's lost more than her cat. She looks like she's losing herself. Her mind. I'm loving the shades of pink (as well as the rest of the picture).
I always feel, when one loses one's mind, it's best to leave it lost; better to spend the afternoon looking for cats...even if you don't have one :)
I hope you are well @honeydue Good to see you.
I think I agree :) Suspiciously many cats in my area lately...wonder what that means.
