Salutations, Terrastrians!

January has been a hectic month, with the commissions demanding all the skills I can master to pull them off. I hope I'll be able to post more in the following month and share all the work I've done.

Concepting & Sketching

I took a different direction in this commission because it required me to do more of a conceptual character illustration, something that I haven't done. But its a challenge I welcome.

I started with two sketches of the character for the client in different poses and subtle differences. And then I went on to design the axe because the brief made it significant as a part of the piece.

Work

I usually block out shapes but this one need me to be a little atomic in my design, so I cleaned up the sketch and did some marginally good line work to guide everything with the greatest assurance.

I followed that up with a value blocking and made a digital grisaille and coloured the it.

I moved on to do a render which was very difficult.
