Look and BEHOLD
I finished some art for a change! I usually quit or give up before the art is finished. In this case, though i went as far as i was willing to go for this piece. I was quite pleased with the outcome. I hope you guys/gals are/were too.
Check out my last post to see my inspirations.
This portrait is a combination of many images like the one above. Thank you Mary for the imagery to inspire.
The idea of @creativemary being immortalized in a portrait would be beyond belief. However, that is the case here.... to the best of my ability.
I made a post a couple of weeks ago called Portrait Potrayal that featured the progress and development of this piece of art. I also explained the inspiration as well as the artistic approach to the project.
I had discussed with her long ago about making some art with her hair as the feature of my artwork. Time passed and the allocation of my inspiration was less than what was desired. However, there was more than enough inspiration to draw from that would satiate my attempt to recreate an image of beauty fitting for the occasion.
At this point, i decided to use an old technique that had served me very well. Up to this point, the paper had not really built the pencil in a way that was easy. I built color and medium in a way that served the greater good.
The thing i was most dissatisfied with was that the hair wasn't as red as it should be to honor the Romanian flag colors properly. The red of @creativemary's hair wasn't rich enough either in my opinion.
It took some creativity and some flexibility in my tools and techniques to be able to get even slightly close to presenting what it was that artistically i had a mind to share.
I bought some Sharpie markers. I didn't realize how much i had been missing by not using them earlier on. I got yellow, red, orange, and black. I also got the blue and purple but didn't use them on this endeavor. The Sharpie factor makes a big difference.
You can go purchase your own NFT version of this portrait here Art Auction
I used pencil, pen, colored pencil, and eraser to complete this artwork.
Because of the paper, i had a difficult time layering the browns to overlap the reds and vise versa to achieve the tones i wanted.
Overall, i won't complain that much. I was fortunate to be able to artistically express what i wanted here in these images.
I really wanted to focus... or overFocus on the red hair and ... the curtly red hair in particular.
In the end, it's my own fault for not being able to express how awesome curly hair is.... and in particular .... Red Curly Hair!
It's at this point i considered giving up and quitting this artistic project. Even though things were not going to my hopes or expectations i still carried on.
Go get it now before my NFT's are not affordable. In one sense i am joking but in another sense, i am being totally serious. I have made my auctions for the first editions affordable. I have priced my art affordably... and at some point in the future you will all wish you got my NFT's when they were within your price range.
And of course, along the way i took some photographs of the artwork.
Or you could go own the art by buying the NFT with your Hive.
I will not make NFTs based on all of the angles that portray the beauty...
But the beauty is intrinsic and should be acquired accordingly.
You can enjoy the imagery here for free in my post...
I appreciate you all for taking the time to come and appreciate the art within my post. It's my hope that it has inspired you to go and check out the NFT ShowRoom and consider collecting some art over there.
In the image above i did the background with horizontal black stripes. In the image below i did the black with a second sweep. I did a vertical pass with black to cover the horizontal black Sharpie.
So, hopefully, @CreativeMary gives her approval of this portrait. I would be more than willing to take commissions for future artworks.
Dude... you can get this shit for 5 Hive right now.... at the auction. https://nftshowroom.com/gallery/castleberry_peremptory-portraits_romanian-red You can click that blue link and find it.
I doubt anyone will actually go buy it from the auction from my experience. But, i will say that the price at the auction is lower than the price for the less than first editions.
The first edition was given to @CreativeMary...
and for the rest it's either a purchase from bidding in the auction or the less expensive option of just buying the art outright.
I have a feeling that those that miss the boat may feel upset at missing the opportunity in the long run.
Love you guys and gals! Hive on My Friends.....
Hoooo! Finally brooo! What an obra maestra, I really love the colors it really pops out. Keep it coming!

Thanks for the tipU bro. If i have some images/photos of your family i would be more than happy to make a portrait of you all! I didn't ever know i could even do portraits until i found out the hard way! ahhaaha I doubt any NFTs will sell now but who knows what the future holds.
Oooh dude the final result is amazing, I really liked the hair, it looked great!
Thanks! That is very flattering coming from you who is so badass at portraits and artwork of a similar variety!
With no question, I love your artwork, you seem to have put so much time and effort into creating it! It's truly appreciated, and I hope someone would buy the NFT because you deserve it (I would've bought it if I wouldn't have all my rewards to HP).
We will see about the NFT purchase of the art. It seems that market is more difficult than the NFTs of Turds being sold for mucho dinero. hahahaha
Nothing wrong with having your rewards in all HP. In fact, that's probably the fastest way to grow your account and get mo bettah returns. Thanks for stopping by and taking the time to comment your appreciations!
Great work my friend, it's very nice to see the creative process of this amazing work. Keep improving every step of the way, I find the use of colors brilliant, making the skin in strong contrast with the colors of the hair, as well as the reference to the flag you mentioned in the old article. Good job.

A really nice job!!! Very similar to the girl and particular in the colors and in the shapes. You have talent. Well done!!!
Thank you for your awesome appreciation and kind words. You have some masterful art skills so your words mean more than most! Thanks.
Thanks to you for your words!!!
You are most welcome!
I remembered the elementals from heroes 3, they were the same blue. And so a very bold choice of colors - amber hairs with fiery locks, blue scales and rabbit teeth) I really like it, but the reference still won. :) 😋
And this is a brotherly fit, from the heart
Thanks for stopping by to appreciate the art and drop a meaningful comment. I really liked the way you worded what you said! 'amber hair with fiery locks' sounds like art all by itself! Cheers bro!
Thank you, creativity to be, as well as the flight of thought! And since it's possible, here's another one of my favorite songs of all time. from the heart bro.
Great work and well recorded. I missed this somehow, but will now share it.
A tip, since you said you use erasers: I use electric erasers and also some hard typewriter erasers for work I do on panel. For the electric erasers you can get different hardnesses also. For fine lines, I 'sharpen' them with sandpaper. Speaking of sandpaper, I use it also when I work on panel with charcoal and pencils, to push back or soften some areas.
Hmm... these are some very interesting techniques and applications for eraser work. Thanks for the tips.
I also have another newer post... you don't have to share or comment, but you might like to check it out. It's a W.I.P. of something i am currently working on.

Cheers!
I am glad you finished the painting and didnt give up on the hair! I think it looks amazing how it turned out, especially that you used so many different shapes, or curls and how you mixed different colours and techniques! whats actually the size of your artwork? I could imagine it quiet well as a very big painting covering half of a wall, but maybe I am totally wrong..:))
Thank you so much for your kind words. I am glad that i didn't give up also. This is different than any other hair that i've done before. Maybe that's why i started out not being so pleased. I usually prefer more of a realistic looking hair when it comes to the detail and shape. But, in the end i just used the colors to do the details. Hahahaha
I come from a drawing background so i usually think in terms of rendering it in pencil/pen and then color... then touch up with some details with the ink. This time i thought a little outside of my box to solve my problems. I still know it's not what i set out to do... but i have to let the art be more organic than me trying to control every aspect.
So, thanks for noticing all the things you mentioned in your observations. This artwork was made on a standard sheet or printer paper. 8.5x11 inches... but i'm not sure what that is in y'alls metric size. hahhaa
I appreciate you stopping by and taking the time to leave a meaningful comment! Have a great week my friend. =)
Hello, I see that you are still surfing with your creations of works of art. You talk about the colors of the Romanian flag but I didn't understand why? I like colors that are alive. The shades in the hair are very pretty. The contrast between the blue face and the red hair gives a nice effect. I was away on his last day and I couldn't see your previous post. See you soon and continue to feed our brains with your excellent work
Yes, Creative Mary, the woman in the portrait is from Romania and she has red hair. She has also done some body and face painting before. So, i kind of merged the body/face paint, her red hair, and the colors of the flag all into one artistic portrait expression. Thanks for stopping by and sharing your thoughts and observations! Glad you are back. =) Cheers!
Merci
Je vous en prie.
Congratulations @castleberry ! I'm so glad you didn't give up. It looks incredible and I really liked her blue skin.
Thank you so much. I have been giving some serious thought toward the maternity photos and art ideas around them. I originally had an idea back when i first mentioned it... but it has escaped me. So, i am having to rethink it. Right now though, i am making an artwork by hand and it features some pregnant ladies mirrored and the primary two have light purple skin. I think you will love it! I appreciate you stopping by and taking the time to check out my post and comment.
I think you did a killer job of drawing her! I thought she looked familiar then I saw you were doing a portrait of Mary! Wonderful work here, indeed her red hair is something else so it’s hard to mimic it but I think you did a great job overall!
Oh nice! Thanks for stopping by to check out my art and offer your kind words. I do appreciate it. =) I'm glad i did Mary a little bit of justice! hahaha
wow the hair and the volume is very good!!, Bob Ross is God... hahahaha, i never couldn´t make a draw with his tutorials... that man makes it very easy, hand made drawings are magic, congrats it´s so good!!
Bob Ross was an amazingly awesome dude. I have never tried to paint with him. But i love to watch and listen. Some day i will give his painting style a try. Until then, i will stick with this kind of stuff! hahahaha I appreciate you stopping by and commenting on my art. Have a great week my friend.
It's always a pleasure to talk to you, Bob, you have a lot of style, it's the same for me....
I think your art work is really good, though I've said it to you before! I'm really happy for you, that you finished it. It came out really beautiful and no wonder, you've had such a beautiful model lady!
Thank you for your kind words. I'm glad that i didn't give up on it. hahaha Definitely glad that i didn't start over either. So, thanks for your encouragement! Apparently, Romania has a lot of beauty to behold and share!=) Thanks for stopping by to check it out and for taking the time to leave a comment!
Ohh this is nothing! Yes, it was a good decision to continue the first one and only make adjustments or so! I hope you are happy about the way it turned out. Seems like everyone likes it so it must be something good in here:D:)
Yes, i was pretty happy with the way it turned out. It looks better in person! hahaha Photos and scans just never seem to do the art justice. But i am glad that i just adapted and adjusted to make it work. I am grateful for the interest anyone and everyone shows in anything i do. So, thanks for being a part of that! It's very encouraging! =)
No problem. My plasure!😀
Hurrah! You did it and I love it, the boldness the brashness of it is so exhilarating.
As I often say we, artists, can say a thing is done or not whenever we like, I realized that 'done' is such an open intrepretation I've found I can hold 3 differing views about my own piece (done, partly done, study) and happily go on to another piece :)
Congrats @castleberry
Yes, i was tempted to do more with the background... but decided it's 'mostly done' then... hahaha
It didn't turn out the way i imagined but it did turn out much better than i was feeling at the point of the last post i made. So, overall i am pretty pleased with this artwork. Thanks for stopping by to encourage me a bit. I do appreciate it!!
The combination of warm and cold colors is too successful ♥.♥ the portrait is beautiful, I would like to dare to use such vivid colors, keep it up!
Thank you very much! I didn't think about the warm and cold colors since i was primarily focused on her red hair and the Romanian flag colors. But when you mention it... i saw it from a different perspective. So, thanks for noticing and pointing it out. I appreciate your kind words as well. You use some pretty vivid colors yourself... so i look forward to you experimenting toward the extreme! Cheers!
I'm very happy, little by little you learn more things, you're very talented, I'd like to see more things from you in the future, I'll follow you closely ♥
Hugs and lots of art for you!
I will try to get some more art created and posted. I appreciate your interest. You can scroll through my blog and see some older posts with some more of my weird art. Most of my blog is photography or handmade art. Thanks again.
I like a Lot this one
Impresionante
The colours and the vibes are awesome. Reminds me that comic movie that speaks about the history of rock:
American Pop
Do You know about that? Is an amazing piece of art
I haven't seen American Pop in a long time... but to be compared to the art in there is quite the compliment. I'm glad you dug the vibe that this one had going on. Thanks for taking the time to comment and let me know! I appreciate you man.
For me that movie is awesome a true clasic!
Your welcome. Your art is amazing too! A Lot. Im a pukufan forever
Blessings
Yes, that art kind of reminds me of the work in Heavy Metal! It might be time to go revisit those classics! Take care bro. =)
yeaaahhh I love heavy metal movie and magazines, i remember people like luis royo and moebius, blade runner vibes, amazing one! You too
Very lovely and beautiful, I wish I could come learn some skills from you in art
Thank you for your kind words. I will teach you anything/everything i know....
Phenomenal artwork! The painting is awesome. You have painted wonderfully with pencil color.
Thank you for your kind words and appreciation for the art!
Your welcome 🤗
I knew the final result would be great, the sharpie markers helped a lot. I think the result with the hair is very good, those shades and nuances of red and orange make it look like it's on fire. Very well done my friend. ✌️
Thanks. I'm glad you noticed the Sharpies helping out! hahah I did start to feel like the hair was liquid fire. That's not necessarily a bad thing either! I appreciate you stopping by and taking the time to comment. Cheers
Dude.... that black background with two layers definitely had the Sharpie Stench in the air! hahhaha
I wanted to joke that it reminded me of @creativemary and then I read on... Love it! Amazing art, great colors! I love the contrast. Especially the blue vs red / orange. Love the colors around the eyes too.
Great piece and awesome process art.
That's awesome that you were reminded of her from just seeing the art. Glad to confirm your intuition! hahaha I'm so happy to hear that you liked the art and the abstractions i took the liberty of adding! I appreciate your feedback and thanks for your encouraging words!
Sure thing, buddy!
I'll think of you next time I'll eat peanutbutter
( not necessarily in my coffee )
Hahhaha... it's youuuuu!
Hahaha!
That's one of the creepiest GIFs I've ever seen.
If I didn't known any better, it could have come straight out of a horror movie:
It's Alive!
and yes, it is me
I knew you would appreciate the creepiness of that gif! hahahah I guess one could just wash the kid off in some coffee! hahaha Just not too hot of coffee. That would definitely be horror movie material.
hahaha!
don't throw out the baby with the peanutbutter coffee...
Like it! You bring your own style to this girl.

Hey, thanks for the beer and for appreciating my style! Cheers!
wow, its very cool!
Thanks for taking the time to stop by and comment. I'm glad you found the art be cool! =)
😊
I must get back to paper soon!
That will be curious to see! I'm sure you rock the paper too! hahaha
I have worked a lot on both paper, canvas and wood, so sometimes I get tired of the limitations of the screen. When spring is here I will do some paper-stuff :)
I have been telling myself i am going to learn more digital applications to create... but i have a hard time getting any passion behind that pursuit. I don't mind using the digital mediums to embellish but i find it difficult to be interested enough to learn it all to create from scratch. Until that passion arises.. i will stick with the traditional methods for now!
Looking forward to Spring when we get to see some of those mediums for your work! Cheers bro!
Digital is more simple, and lots of things are lost. It is fast and funny, but limited.
I love your work. The choice of colors you made calle my attention a lot.
Thank you for your kind words! I really appreciate them and i'm glad the colors got your attention. Hahaha Thanks for stopping by to let me know! Cheers!
Love this! really love the hair
Hey, thanks for stopping by to appreciate the art. I'm glad you loved the hair. I just dropped you a comment on your intro post. Check that out when you get some time! Cheers and Welcome to Hive!

Hello dear friend. I had a question !? What should I do to block one of our followers in Hyo? ? I do not want him to see my posts and not follow me
What happened and who is this user you are referring to?
In our country, Iran, and even our city, which is small, and I do not have a good opinion of this person and I do not want him to see the posts at all. Is it possible to do such a thing ?? Can you explain the method to me ???!
Is this person on Hive?
Yes, he has recently joined Hayo and is a fellow citizen
It's HIVE (not Hayo)... and what is this fellow citizen's account?
Yes, it was a typo. I have to look at the account name again. Are you really a way dear friend ??
Hi dear friend. Didn't you say whether something can be done or not?
I finally read about what you wrote and saw that you talked about Romania and @CreativeMary who is also from Romania, from what I saw she doesn't have much activity here in HIVE, if you are curious you can check my last post in the community which is also about Egypt.
Greetings!
Yes, this was an ode and honor to Romania... but mostly to Mary herself. She has been active enough and i am honored to be able to call her a friend. Though, not as known and as close as i would like as a friend... I call her a friend nonetheless. She is a very creative person and i was quite privileged to draw her portrait here in this post. I'm looking forward to perhaps doing a less abstract portrait in the future of her. Thanks for stopping by buddy and taking the time to comment. I would be curious to know what your favorite aspect of this art or post was?!
What on earth has that poor girl eaten? With that colour on her face, she should see a doctor urgently! :-)
On the other hand, there is something about her, that fascinates me.
nice art sir GODBLESS you and your family <3
Thanks for taking the time to come and check out my art. God Bless you and your family as well!
love this !!
Thank you!
