Unforeseen Integration
"....The fleet had arrived several weeks earlier,
quietly amassing on the dark side of the target planet's only natural satellite. Nearly forty years of preparation had brought a sleek armada of warships and support fleets to this moment in glorious history.
The target planet circled gracefully in it's endless arc around the system's small yellow sun. It was not prepared for what was coming. It simply glowed with its serene blue/green candescence, basking in warm solar light.
The Fleet was almost ready to make planetfall. Tens of millions of soldiers were being spun up from digital sleep, ready to be re-inserted into their physical bodies, which had been in a state of dessicated hibernation. For nearly forty years the bodies of all these soldiers had been entombed in the vast spherical Somnium Stars: layer upon countless layers of fields of part sleeping part dead, part something else shrivelled husks, lying in limbo as far as the eye could see. They were tended to not only by the sleep fields themselves but literally armies of robotic nurses and attendants, tirelessly rushing about, ensuring that not one single soldier had perished on this journey.
The lifeless husks of the armies of rhe Tyrrian Instellum were being poked and prodded, stuck with needles and tubes, being rehydrated and resurrected by the Fields themselves, immense fungal networks of enhanced, networked sentience, a Voice within the hyphae and soil. The Voice had kept millions of soldiers in a state between life and death for nearly forty years, and now they were reversing rhe feat, pulling them all back from the threshold, in preparation for the greatest undertaking in Tyrrian history...
OH, wow ... I think Earth might be in a bit of trouble!
