50x50
oil
Artem Tikhonkov
Once I was lying on the couch and spitting lazily at the ceiling.
For a long time I did not want to do anything, and draw too.
Meanwhile, the white canvas gleamed with its snow-white smile, as if knowing that soon I would pounce on it in a complete trance, and pour out in a pencil sketch some images that were completely incomprehensible to me.
But I felt that I would be lost if I didn't do it now.
When the pencil drawing was finished, I felt as if the stream had stopped flowing from my chest, and a feeling of emptiness and fatigue arose.
All this happened in the last days of my stay in Bulgaria, and the oil painting ended already in Ukraine, in my usual studio room in Lviv.
When I look at it, I see human cycles of life that are repeating endlessly.
The house that eats itself is an image of the universe that folds and unfolds again.
The spirit coming out of the window, the eternal palms that support all life, up to the planets and time.
The monkey is trying to catch the light playing by the rules given to it.
And much more eternal, which fit together on a 50x50 cm format into one lazy and hot Bulgarian evening.
