Little Moon. (ENG/ESP)

Hello to everyone, these days I've been going to a course about art where I learned a little about art history, specilly from the artists that are from here Venezuela, and we also did some exercises to explore the blending between colors and somethings about composition. For last day we had a little talk about the naive art, a movement characterized as for the lack of formal knowledge and for being self taught, and so we did a little exercise to put this concept in practice. Anyways I ended up with a really nice idea (at least to me) and I wanted to make a improved version in digital and here it is.

Hola a todos, estos días he estado asistiendo a un curso de arte donde aprendí un poco de historia del arte, especialmente de los artistas que son de aquí Venezuela, y también hicimos algunos ejercicios para explorar la mezcla entre colores y cosas sobre composición. Para el último día tuvimos una pequeña charla sobre el arte naïf, un movimiento caracterizado por la falta de conocimientos formales y por ser autodidacta, e hicimos un pequeño ejercicio para poner en práctica este concepto. De todos modos, terminé con una muy buena idea (al menos para mí) y quería hacer una versión mejorada en digital y aquí está.

Process/Proceso

First I drew a quick sketch over a picture of the physical drawing. I added more detail to the character.

Primero dibujé un boceto rápido sobre una imagen del dibujo físico. Agregué más detalles al personaje.

Next I drew the base of the illustration and lines. Since the drawing itself doesn't have need to follow any logic I decided the background would be the space.

A continuación dibujé la base de la ilustración y las líneas. Como el dibujo en sí no tiene por qué seguir ninguna lógica, decidí que el fondo sería el espacio.

Then I put in practice all my patience and pulse and made the patterns of the walls and floor.

Luego puse en práctica toda mi paciencia y pulso e hice los patrones de las paredes y el piso.

I painted the character afterwards, added some cracks to the structure and the mug and made a simple illumination product of the light coming from the moon the girl is holding in her hands (and yes what I drew in the physical drawing was a moon) I alse kept the shadows simple because if I did them with more detail I thought it would get too messy (And I was lazy).

Después pinté el personaje, agregué algunas grietas a la estructura y la taza e hice una iluminación simple producto de la luz proveniente de la luna que la niña sostiene en sus manos (y sí, lo que dibujé en el dibujo físico era una luna) También mantuve las sombras simples porque si las hacía con más detalle pensé que sería demasiado desordenado (Y tenía flojera).

And to end, I did some retouching to the shadows, cracks and the little moon and turned around the room because why not, it is in the space anyways.

Y para terminar le hice algunos retoques a las sombras, grietas y la pequeña luna y le di la vuelta a la habitación porque por qué no, está en el espacio de todos modos.
