Ask Anime Question of the Week:
Ever felt bad for the bad guys that actually put in the work to win and even had reasonable motivations why they had to be the evil party but only ended up losing because hero plot armor? Name the villain(s) that deserved the win but didn't because happy ending was mandatory.

I will say that Naraku from Inuyasha, maybe he didn't have as powerful motivations as other great villains and did a lot of bad things, but I will say him because he was very powerful and obviously if it wasn't for the power of the script, he had all the potential and everything within his reach to be the winner, he gave a lot of headache haha 😂
I will always say that Nagato was right. He's ideology has a point, giving a very different perspective to the Konoha village. He showed Naruto that no everyone is a hero, how corrupted the ninja system is and that sometimes there's no easy way out of things.
In Konoha they were too busy building a legacy, an empire, and didn't care much about the most vulnerable people.
Although his approach is obviously not the best, he definitely had all the right reasons to criticize the corrupted system.
I would say Eren Yeager.
I don't even know if he can be classified as a hero because he was a villain to more than he was a hero to.
He had the power to stop the people who came after him but he still allowed them do what they wanted. Who was the real enemy, like Erwin ones asked him. He was fighting for his surviver and he was and was always right. You saw the ending of how the world was destoried again. "In as much there are those who remember what was, there will be those who can accept what will be"
But Eren won though. In as much as the rumbling failed,it was his plan all along. So he technically still won.
He wanted to wipe out everyone
It’s not like he won, he gave up
He didn't give up. He wanted to but he didn't and he knew he wouldn't have succeeded cause his friends would be against him and for the greater good. Eren planned everything from start to finish man. He didn't give up,he knew exactly what he was doing.
Yeah
That’s what I’m saying
He could stop his friends if wanted to
Not stopping his friends means he planned everything to happen like that, he gave up his quest to wipe out of all the remaining humanity
Ohhh righttt. We're on the same page actually! He didn't deserve to be seen as a villain

I don't know if they deserved to win or not but many of the moons in Kimetsu No yaiba have a rather sad and heavy context. Empathizing with them is very easy because most of them when they were human could be people who all they wanted was to be happy, their family members, etc. Being moons one would say that they were corrupted but I think not, deep down they were the same people with fears, feelings that were corrupted by Muzan.
I would think that some of them, deep down, could have had another destiny.
The first one that came to mind immediately was Altair from Re:Creators. I don't know if defeat is the right term for what happened to her at the end—but yeah, technically she was indeed defeated. I find it quite unbelievable that she's defeated (with how op her power was). I even thought that the anime series would last longer because I somehow expected that her revenge party would last longer, but it turns out a happy ending is a must to end their series. Her backstory was quite sad, especially the backstory of her creator. It was really heartbreaking, and I quite sympathize with the anger she felt. With a power like that, I think I would also do the same to avenge the ruined life of the person special to me. I somehow predicted that she would be defeated tho I didn't see that it would end that way.
I would say: Meruem (Hunter x Hunter) the King of the Chimera Ants, started out as a ruthless tyrant. However, as he interacted with Komugi, his outlook changed dramatically. This bond led him to reflect on humanity. Despite his transformation and growth as a being, Meruem was defeated not because of evil, but because the “happy ending” demanded his sacrifice.
