We're going to make this a weekly mini-contest where we ask something related to Anime. Read the rules carefully.
Ask Anime Question of the Week:
I'm talking about a scenario where the plot is so complicated and niche that retelling the story to someone that never watched anime requires you to contextualize majority of the basic plots. An example would be the Fate Series where concepts like gender bend heroes, twisted timelines, complex roles and character backstories in a multiverse setting.
Rules:
- Comment your answer to the weekly question to this post as an entry.
- Must be in English but you can attach a section for a different language too as long as there is an English section that conveys the same thought.
- No need to make a post about the contest or use a specific tag for your post. You can still post about this but it serves no purpose in picking a winner.
- Tag someone who you think might be interested in joining (optional) but if that person participates in the event, there's a bonus reward IF either of you wins. In cases where multiple users tag the same person, we'll count only the user that mentioned that person first as evidenced by the time stamp on the blockchain.
- Response must not be AI generated. While this can sometimes be a challenge to detect and prove, it's not worth trying because you're being asked to share in your own words.
@satoru-raiden already mentioned Evangelion and I think that would be my first answer too, it's so complicated and to be honest, I think no one will ever know what the hell does it mean xD
But to mention another one, Attack on Titan is definitely a mind blowing plot too. Summarize it to someone that has no idea about anime is like explaining the Bible, so many characters and plot twist. It's not simple to understand.
And let's be honest, even the premise itself is kinda strange. It's good tho, but weird hahaha
I am only 2 seasons into AOT, just never went back to it. But explaining the first season isn't too bad, the second is where I lose it ahahah
Season 2 is when it gets complicated, and the more you watch, the more you can get confused hahaah
Although when you get it, is an awesome anime. Hope you can watch it fully someday :)
To aru Series I think would be a good example. The plot is a bit complicated to understand and that is added to the amount of seasons it has and each of them focuses on a different protagonist. Everything follows the same story, but seen from the point of view of different protagonists and that makes you get more entangled haha
You have to know in which order to watch it in order to understand, you can't watch first the story of a protagonist if you don't cross it with the other one because you won't understand it 😂 it was difficult for me haha
I've had this on my watchlist a while but never got round to it. Is it worth a watch?
Personally, the story I liked the most is To aru Kagaku no Railgun, I think it has a little more plot and is more entertaining to watch, it is worth watching but not all the stories, Index did not like me. Anyway, I encourage you to watch it because it has action, battles and good animation.
I'll check it out, thank you very much.
Hopefully I will understand it haha

In my opinion, it’s Evangelion, because since the series ended, many videos, theories, and articles have been made trying to explain its ending, and no one really agrees on what actually happened. This reached the point where the creator himself made a new version of the anime, and the only conclusion we have is that this anime has such a complicated ending that it has become the biggest mind-f#ck meme of all anime endings xD
Thanks for the tip @theanimerealm
I haven't yet watched (finished) an anime with a super complicated plot, but I remembered a certain anime that my otaku schoolmate once recommended. I still remember her frustrations while retelling the story of Monogatari series—with its overlapping stories and timelines and also the order of the eps...In the end, she said that I should just try it.
Although it doesn't have a lot of eps, (I think it's just below 100 eps—based on the last time I researched it—totally not that many) I didn't finish it. I tried tried watching it, but the eps order got me baffled, so I ended up dropping and not really finishing it (can't blame myself 'cause I'm just a new otaku at that time lol ).
I watched the first season of this series a long time ago... But the sequel was released five years later, so I never really checked it again. I should rewatch from the beginning... It's called DRRR! (Durarara)
I found the anime complicated, but maybe the sequel would have answered my questions.
I think almost any Isekai anime would be strange for someone who doesn't watch anime, but personally one of the ones I found the strangest at the beginning was Senyoku no Sigrdrifa, humanity is attacked by strange creatures from pillars that appear without explanation, young girls with pilot suits are the only way to fight, for some reason they use planes from the first world war and also turn out to be the famous Valkyries from the nordic mythology, all very peculiar indeed hahahaha
This is a question I needed to ask, as I can't find a discord link anywhere.
I received 1 Hive from The Anime Realm and don't know why, anyone have any ideas?
Thanks

Thankyou ever so much

I think it's for participating https://peakd.com/@youloseagain/re-theanimerealm-sh1of4
Oh sweet, didn't realise you could win stuff. That's cool
low key only hehe
I just wanted to get involved XD
But it's a nice thing to happen
For me it has got to be Ikki Tousen
Trying to explain that to anybody without saying panties and nakedness every few words is really hard!
It's also one that you can't really introduce to a non Anime watcher as a first time watch 🤣
