I had to take a day off today because I'm having gum problems again, so conducting my classes is difficult. However, despite that, I had quite a productive day.
I woke up early, as usual, at 6:30 AM (I've recently been trying to change my body clock to have a healthier sleep), meditated with my mom, and exercised with my parents. (Doing this encourages them to do the same for their blood pressure.) Then, we had breakfast.
After breakfast, I was just chilling in the living room while listening to music and playing some mobile games. My father was busy decorating our house for Christmas, including the Christmas tree. He has volunteered to do it himself for the past years, so my mom and I just leave him to it.
As we were looking at the Christmas tree, my mom suddenly suggested I make some anime-related designs for the tree. I was a bit surprised but was excited by the thought of it.
Originally, she wanted to print some anime photos which we're going to stick to some cardboard and hang on the tree. Unfortunately, my printer ran out of colored ink... so I proposed to draw chibi faces instead.
She immediately agreed and suggested some characters, especially those from Diamond no Ace. It's probably because we're re-watching the anime recently.
This is our Christmas tree designed by my father earlier today.
I asked my mom how many can I hang and she told me "around ten".
The space is limited, so it makes sense. That's why I decided to just draw some Haikyuu! and Diamond no Ace characters.
I cut small circles using a page from my calligraphy pad. The paper is thick, so it's good to use and I can draw directly on it. I made a sample and showed it to my mom for approval. hahah
I drew Hinata on one side and Kageyama on the other. This way, I can draw more chibi characters. When I showed it to her, she liked it... and so, I proceeded to do the rest.
Let me show you how I did the chibi design...
I just drew a chibi face, then colored it depending on the skin color, made the hair, face, and small details, and lastly wrote some greetings and colored the background.
I used acrylic markers directly to save time since I'm going to make around 20 designs in total... as for the background color, it's watercolor pencils.
I ended up making 11 chibi balls, so it's a total of 22 characters.
After completing the drawings, I went to my parents' room to get some sewing materials to attach some thread to it. I wanted to take a photo of all the designs, so I borrowed my mom's pillowcase, so I could put them on it. However, this happened...
This furbaby thought I prepared the pillowcase for him to lie down on. hahaha He's sooo cute!!! I just let him be and played with him for a while. Once he was satisfied, he jumped off the bed. lol
Can you name them??? My mom named 21 out of 22 characters. hahah Her mistake was understandable though, because every time we watch Haikyuu!, she'd ask me "Who's Bokuto's setter again?" hahaha
I attached a tie using thread and a needle. Once everything was done, we went out to place it on the Christmas tree. I was the one who tied it, but mama told me where. And here are some photos of our Christmas tree now.
It was fun and I like seeing them on our Christmas tree. My parents also approved seeing these cute chibi faces on it. What do you think?
Thanks for reading and see you around! (^^,)/
wow! go anime mommy! so refreshing to hear how encouraging your mom is.
It really is!
I wouldn't have thought about it if she didn't ask me to. ^^

What I liked the most about this experience is that you had the support and initiative of your mother to do it. I loved the result and your Christmas tree turned out great. 💕
