OK, so I'm getting quite serious with this quest thing and I'm actually enjoying it. It's keeping my motivation high to post and made me think of other stuff I want to talk about. Anyway, for this post, let me introduce to you to yet another sports anime which is entitled "DIVE!!".

From the title itself, you can already imagine what the anime is about, can't you? It's a sports anime about conquering that humongous concrete dragon which is also known as the diving board.
In this anime, a certain diving club called Mizuki Diving Club (MDC) is about to be closed down due to financial reasons. Because of this, the coach of the club, Asaki Kayoko, pleaded their parent company to support the club and in exchange, one of the members should be chosen as a part of the Japanese Olympics team. To do this, the members are to showcase their skills in various competitions in order to be chosen.

These three above are members of MDC and they're also the main characters (starting from the left): Okitsu, Tomoki and Youichi. These three showed potential in becoming an Olympic representative, but they all have their issues to face first.
I personally like Okitsu because he's one crazy dude! I really like characters who has their own world and wouldn't really adhere to the standards set by society. It's just refreshing!
In addition, I believe DIVE!! is more of a coming-of-age drama series than the usual sports anime. Well, the competitions were fun to watch and were quite exciting as well. However, as a sports anime fan, I was looking for something more. I guess the fact that it's an individual sport rather than a team sport made it a bit less exciting for me. The story itself was good, though.
Technically, I also like the art and animation style. I guess the fact that it's just a 12-episode anime made me a bit sad and disappointed because the story had great potential, but it felt like it was shortened and some important scenes were not well-elaborated. Anyway, let me show you the trailer below.

It wasn't bad, but it could have been better. There's also a live-action movie version of this anime, but I didn't watch it. The stage play version was quite a success in Japan, too. I just hope to watch a much longer sports anime like this. Actually, it was my second time watching this and to tell the truth, I still enjoyed it. My mom also had fun watching this, though we both hoped we understood the rules and scoring of the said sport more. haha
That's it for this post. :) See you around! ^^

Hello... sometimes it happens that one has high expectations of an anime and at the end, one feels that something is missing, I'm more into romance anime and there are some that... the story doesn't fit even with chewing gum hahahahahaha.
Good review, a hug.
PD: good that you watch anime with your mother, in my house I'm the only one who watches them T_T hahahahaha
I had a phase when I enjoyed romance anime, too.. haha But then the more I watch or read, the stories become too similar. Still, quite entertaining and I enjoyed the "dokidoki" moments.
My mama started watching anime during the pandemic because I pulled her into my world... and now, she's stuck with me. HAHA
hahahaha a lot of things happened during the pandemic, luckily since I work from home, it didn't affect me that much.
hahahaha it's a pity that no one in my family has been able to enter this world, I tried with my brother in law, but only Dr stone has been seen, (sad moment, hahahahahaha).
a hug
Hahaha... I work from home, too!!! So, my break time is mostly anime time. :)
I love Dr. Stone.. My mom enjoyed it, too! haha
Hopefully, you'd be successful next time! :D
Ohh nice. I've watched the trailer long ago and it was good, yes, but I haven't noticed that the anime was already released. Thanks for sharing.
It was released around 2017? But the movie was quite recent. I think... :)
Ah sports anime, not my genre but these shows exemplify the saying there's an anime of just about everything in Japan.

Understandable... :) Not a lot of anime fans are into the sports genre. ^^
Couldn't agree more! ^^

When I saw the cover I thought it was from an anime I had seen but about swimming called Free which is about a group of boys practicing this sport, I guess the premiere is the same. I guess the premiere is the same, I guess the premiere is the same. How cool that you can watch anime with your mom, maybe with mine I couldn't, not only for me but for her, and doesn't this anime have manga? maybe you could follow the plot of this one, that's what I do when I'm interested in an anime HAHAHAH. Sports anime are also quite educational as they more or less explain the rules of the sport and so understand a little more everything. Good post <3
I does look like Free! at first glance... given they're both done in a swimming pool. I felt the same when I saw Re:Main (water polo anime) as well. haha
Yeah, I trapped my mom in the anime world a few years back... haha
I haven't checked the manga for this, but I might do so. :) Sometimes, I read sports manga and in a couple years, they become anime like "Blue Lock" and "Ao Ashi". It made me so happy to see some of my fave sports manga come to life in the anime!
True.. I learned to love baseball because of anime (and it's not popular in my country at all)... I enjoyed watching WBC last year and some Major highlights because of it!
good anime, a bit long for my taste... but it is very well animated
It only has 12 episodes, though... 😅
Personally,I think all sport animes are low-key bl and I love it!😂... I watched "free" not too long ago and it was giving that same I want to be with the same gender kind of vibe, also Blue lock. It low-key gave that vibe but it wasn't very noticeable😂... I would really love to watch "DIVE". Might try it out later today..
Hahaha... There are tons of BL doujinshi made for sports anime characters. :) Though I'm a fan of BL anime and manga, I genuinely enjoy sports anime as it is! I do have some ships from time to time, though. hahaha For Blue Lock, the upcoming movie is giving more BL vibes than the series since it's focused on certain characters.. lol I hope you could watch it! :D
This anime looks interesting, but you said it's short. There are different anime that I've watched that are very interesting but because their episodes are too short, it saddens my heart. A lot of high expectation animes.
I would've preferred that this anime reach at least 20–25 episodes.
But, I'll give it a try. Thanks for sharing.
I can also see that you've done two more posts. Good job. I'm just starting mine by the way.
Heyyy! Thanks for dropping by. :)
Yes... Recent anime or at least from the late 2010s tend to have 12 episodes, so it's quite sad. It would've been awesome to have more episodes... but the anime industry isn't really easy, I suppose. So, we can only wait. haha
Yes, I'm almost done with the quest this month! :) You can do it!!!! ^^
Yes, it's true, I learned that producing an episode of anime costs a lot of money. That's why those producers of long animes like One Piece or Naruto tried.
Wow, you tried. Thanks for the encouragement, I'll try my best 😃.
You're very much welcome... ^^
