I have always said that the Japanese imagination is overwhelmed and it is no wonder who would come up with a story between two worlds that are divided by inverse gravitational forces? This is an idea that may get into the realm of the surreal, but it's not really what the movie is actually trying to show us. It is a very emotional film, with a very original idea.
The argument unfolds as follows, there was a failed experiment with gravity and as I said before, the earth is divided between two populations, "normal" people and inverted people. "Normal" people live in a hierarchical and authoritarian society where the inverts are seen as sinners, almost as a religion of hatred towards them, demonizing them for being in different circumstances than these. Age, is a boy who lives in this society but always kept looking up at the sky, as if the inverts were calling them.

El argumento se desarrolla de la siguiente manera, hubo un experimento fallido con la gravedad y como dije anteriormente la tierra queda divida entre dos poblaciones, la gente “normal” y la gente invertida. La gente “normal” vive en una sociedad jerarquizada y autoritaria en donde se ve a los invertidos como pecadores, casi como una religión de odio hacia estos, demonizándolos por estar en circunstancias diferentes a estos. Age, es un chico que vive en esta sociedad pero siempre se quedaba viendo hacia el firmamento, como si los invertidos los llamaran.

It would have been interesting if more details of the experiment with gravity were given since this tragedy is mentioned in a very weak and not very detailed way and in my opinion it is that the scriptwriter or creator of the story was not interested at all in giving technical aspects or simply not. I had. If technical aspects were touched on a scientific level, this story probably doesn't make any sense so it is better to leave it in the territory of fantasy.
Despite all that, this story has strength and hook. Leaving aside the aforementioned technical aspect, the story meets the viewer quite well, offering us good moments and an original and crazy but interesting story.
Y así fue, una chica cae del cielo literalmente. Patema, la protagonista de esta animación, es una chica carismática y muy kawaii que es la responsable de todo el meollo de esta historia. Al ser una chica invertida, debe huir del lugar en donde se encuentra Age, no sin antes tener un profundo afecto por este, pero el villano de la historia consigue atraparla. Este dictador tiene un odio profundo hacia los invertidos, apresándolos como bestias salvajes y lo que busca es tratar de conseguir llegar a donde estos están para poder eliminarlos para siempre ya que los considera pecadores.
Hubiese sido interesante que se dieran más detalles del experimento con la gravedad ya que se menciona esta tragedia de manera muy débil y poco detallada y a mi parecer es que el guionista o creador de la historia no le interesaba en absoluto dar aspectos técnicos o simplemente no los tenía. Si se tocaran aspectos técnicos a nivel científico esta historia probablemente no tenga ningún sentido así que es mejor dejarla en el territorio de la fantasía.
Pese a todo eso esta historia tiene fuerza y enganche. Dejando a un lado el aspecto técnico antes mencionado la historia cumple bastante bien con el espectador, ofreciéndonos buenos momentos y una historia original y descabellada pero interesante.
For a moment I thought it would be a story with a more romantic charge but it is not, although it is true that there is a special affection between Age and Patema, it is not possible to observe beyond that leaving it to the imagination if between these two characters there is a special love or not. Probably yes, but it can be somewhat debatable.
The animation is perfect, the landscapes that are shown to us in the world of the inverts are spectacular while on the other hand we can see a fairly modern society but controlled from head to toe.
The soundtrack is good and gives strength to some scenes but it is not something that would stand out as the best I have heard in anime territory, in my opinion this animation fulfills its argumentative and visual role much more than anything else.
Por un momento pensé que sería una historia con una carga más romántica pero no es así, si bien es cierto que hay un afecto especial entre Age y Patema no se consigue observar más allá de eso dejando a la imaginación si entre estos dos personajes hay un amor especial o no. Probablemente sí, pero puede ser algo discutible.
La animación es perfecta, los paisajes que se nos muestran en el mundo de los invertidos son espectaculares mientras que por otro lado podemos ver una sociedad bastante moderna pero controlada de pies a cabeza.
La banda sonora es buena y le da fuerza a algunas escenas pero tampoco es algo que destacaría como de lo mejor que he escuchado en territorio anime, en mi opinión esta animación cumple mucho más con su rol argumentativo y visual que otra cosa.
This movie is good but leaves a feeling of emptiness after watching it, as if many things needed to be explained that were left unfinished. The explanation they give about the gravitational experiment is crude and bland, they only make it clear to us something that happens without informing us how it happened. The story between these two boys is quite typical and in fact the characters are too, despite being charismatic and not being able to feel empathy with them, they are still quite clichéd characters that we can see in any other animation.
Mind you, Age and Patema are characters that complement each other quite well and one can quickly deduce that they ended up together in the end. The movie is quite predictable but enjoyable and entertaining.
I consider this anime as a jewel on a visual level, with a theme that had not been explored but that they did not do it in the best way. It loses shine in development but gives us a bit of strength at the end of the animation. The characters, although they are quite clichés, give energy to the story apart from how wonderful the visual experience can be when watching this animation.
It is not exactly the best thing I have seen in recent years but it is worth taking a look, it is a film that performs quite well, it does not leave the occasional hilarious moment but perhaps I have missed a little more action or strength in what which refers to the argument.
Esta película es buena pero deja una sensación de vacío después de verla, como si hiciera falta explicar muchas cosas que quedaron inconclusas. La explicación que dan sobre el experimento gravitacional es burda y sosa, solo nos dejan claro algo que pasa sin informarnos como paso. La historia entre estos dos chicos es bastante típica y de hecho los personajes también lo son, pese a ser carismáticos y que no pueda sentirse empáticos con ellos no dejan de ser unos personajes bastante clichés que podemos ver en cualquier otra animación.
Eso sí, Age y Patema son personajes que se complementan bastante bien y uno puede deducir rápidamente que terminaran juntos al final. La película es bastante predecible pero disfrutable y entretenida.
Considero a este anime como una joya a nivel visual, con un tema que no se había explorado pero que no lo hicieron de la mejor manera. Pierde brillo en el desarrollo pero nos da un poco de fuerza al final de la animación. Los personajes pese a que son bastante clichés le dan energía a la historia aparte de lo maravillosa que puede ser la experiencia visual al ver esta animación.
No es precisamente lo mejor que haya visto en los últimos años pero vale la pena echarle un vistazo, es una película que cumple bastante bien, no deja uno que otro momento hilarante pero quizás haya echado de menos un poco más de acción o fuerza en lo que se refiere al argumento.
