Hi! I honestly didn't know this anime, and you're absolutely right about what you said at the beginning: if I'd only seen the cover or the title, I probably would have just skimmed it, thinking it was a simple kids' show without much depth.
That duality you described really caught my attention. The premise of watching a 31-year-old adult grappling with the emptiness and monotony of life while having to fake happiness on camera sounds brilliant and, at the same time, painfully real (I think many of us can relate to that, haha).
