Manga Mondays #14: Share Some Manga Recommendations

in The Anime Realm4 months ago

It's a new weekly series like AskAnime where I ask for Manga recommendations. I binge read a lot of manga so I tend to run out of titles on a weekly basis so it'd be great if you guys can give me some recommendations.

#mangamonday14

Share a manga that has political or law themes. Ongoing or completed but if it's ongoing, at least maybe some 20 chapters in and there's a regular update. I've read some vigilante style comics because politics/law with psychological themes complement this genre. It's a tough genre and a niche interest so I'm not really expecting a lot of readers for this one.

Mechanics:

  1. Entry can either be a comment under this post or a separate post with a hashtag #mangamonday14. Please note the number "14" at the end of the hashtag is an indicator of the week number and it'll help me search for recent entries on the succeeding weeks. Making a separate post is preferred but settling for a comment is fine too.
  2. If you make a separate post about the recommendation, you don't need to specify that it's "Manga Monday Contest Entry 14" or something along those lines, just post it like any regular review post on the community. This isn't a formal contest as the criteria is just looking recommendations to read about.
  3. Reblogs or upvotes are appreciated but not necessary. Just comment the recommendation or make a post about the manga, that'd be fine.
  4. It doesn't necessarily have to be a manga, it can be a manhwa or manhua.
  5. If you already made a post about your recommendation, let's say a manga review posted months to years ago, drop it here as an entry.
  6. You can do multiple entries in the comments or post but bear in mind that if you shill me a bucket list of titles, I'd probably ignore it.
  7. Community mods will be curating the entries for engagement. This doesn't mean big votes, we could just be handing out Hive tips for those that engage more just as what we do on AskAnime weekly.

Thanks for your time.

If it's about politics, I only know one title, and perhaps a lot of people already read it too. 20th Century Boys. 🙂

But for those who haven't read it, I highly recommend 20th Century Boys by Naoki Urasawa. It has complex plot, playing around the themes of authoritarian cult, conspiracies, and I like how the author carefully manage the story line on realization of childhood dreams of changing the world to be a better place.

I would love to read politics themed manga. Would be perfect if it is available on mangaplus too.

Cheers!

First I've heard about this one and damn the plot is thick. Cool suggestion!

Good afternoon my brother. Hopefully today is a beautiful day for you.

It's been a pleasant day so far~

For this #mangamonday14, I'm going to recommend the manga Pluto by Naoki Urasawa. Pluto is a very strange manga that deals with themes like war, discrimination, and one that blows my mind to the point of making me a little afraid: robots with consciousness and feelings.

I never heard this title before. I love Naoki Urasawa's works! Definitely will add to my reading list. Thanks man!

Share a manga that has political or law themes.

Sanctuary is a political thriller manga I read way back then; it's really mature, and I don't know why I read and finished it (maybe because I'm really fascinated by its art style! ). So it's about two men who survived a horrible childhood in Cambodia, and upon arriving in Japan, they realized that it was far from the sanctuary they envisioned it to be. Wanting to change the whole state of Japan, they decided to conquer both the political and underground (yakuza) worlds of it. By the way, it has 100+ chapters (already completed ), and for me it really ended satisfyingly.

Sanctuary

This might be a gem. I'm still sifting through other stories and just bookmark titles recommended here.

If we are to discuss political manga with a bit of vigilante then I will go for

Ordeal

For #mangamonday14

Ordeal is a very interesting manga. It is still ongoing. It’s a power pack manga. One thing is that the government regulate the people with abilities. The people in power are humans who are scared of people with powers. Meanwhile there are some of them who also have powers.

The manga is full of secret, manipulative characters, friends and betrayal which is common in the governmental system.

It still ongoing and it gets interesting at every chapter.
