Life’s Uneqal Game

in The Real Talk22 hours ago

There's no nobility in poverty. Romanticizing or sweetening poverty is nothing but absurd. Poverty is dangerously scary. Poverty would make a man choose a slice of bread over a key to success. When people ask me what my greatest fear is, I instinctively think about being poor; not being able to provide a good and comfortable lifestyle for my partner and children. The thought about it alone is traumatizing. That fear is why I work hard every day. For this week’s Real Talk prompt, the community asks an interesting question: Do poor people stay poor because of a mindset or system failure?

No one chooses to be poor. Life is unfair in that aspect. If you are born into a poor background, it is not your fault. From the beginning, life is already dealing with you. Life is like a football game and being born into poverty means you start the match already one goal down. It becomes worse when the system of your country is against you. Long ago, I came across a reel on Instagram that says if you are born into a poor country, life is leading with a goal, if you are born into a poor family, it becomes two goals and finally, if you don’t have sense, it becomes 10 goals.

As I mentioned above, no one chooses to be poor, it is something that is beyond our control. However, while we cannot control this part, we can control the outcome of our lives to some extent. Meaning, it is not your fault that you were born into a poor background, but it will be your fault if you don’t do anything about it and end up dying poor. Now, to answer the question: do poor people stay poor because of mindset or system failure?

In my opinion, it is both. But the first to tackle is mentality. When the mentality is messed up, there is really nothing anyone can do to help. When a man decides that since he was born into a poor family, there's nothing he can do to be rich, he will relax and enjoy his comfort zone. On the other hand, someone with a different mentality will not care about the background. Most of the rich and successful people today didn't grow up in rich homes. Many of them were born into poor homes, but it is their mentality, coupled with hard work, dedication, and patience that took them far.

That said, the system also plays an important role. You can do everything right and the system will keep messing things up. However, I strongly believe that if the mentality is channeled in a way to fight obstacles with utmost perseverance and dedication then it is only a matter of time before success kicks in.

In conclusion, there's really no nobility in poverty. Work hard, work smart, and pray.

Well not that I am against the paragraph you said that no one chooses to be poor. I think that's not totally correct. There are people that chose to be poor. They may not outrightly say it but their behaviors tells it all.
