KoiChoco - 54-55 Hour Mark Impressions (Spoilers)

Hey y'all. Welcome back to my impressions of KoiChoco. I have finally completed the Mifuyu route. This one I've been taking slower mostly due to real life obligations. Let's jam!!!

Here are the rules for my play so you know what to expect from this portion:

1. If I didn't talk about it much in previous routes, I will only reference it here when needed
2. This route doesn't rely on much from other routes, so I'll be treating it as such
3. I'm only showing off screenshots from the 2-4 hour mark of this play session; most of what happened in the first 2 hours, I'm not discussing or touching (to avoid majorly spoiling things)
4. These rules may apply to other routes

General Thoughts

I didn't expect this route to be as dense as it was while ending as quickly as it did compared to some of the other routes. None of this last hour was shared content but I did cheat a bit on the time for it due to most of the last 30 minutes being Epilogue. Just know, this route really is my favorite.

Sex In the Rain is a Such a Bad Idea

Just like with the other routes, I won't be diving too far into this. Right before this portion of the session had started, Chisato had confronted both Yuuki and Mifuyu about their relationship and pissed she was that they didn't tell her. Mifuyu ran out into what might have been a monsoon that wasn't a part of any of the other routes. Her physical health had been a point of contention the entire time she had been on screen in all of the routes. Yuuki chased after.

Shivering, shaking and cold, they both took shelter under the roof top of a school gazebo. Her taking the lead and telling him what she wanted was not expected. For most of the time she's been displayed, she's been doing things for her friends and sacrificing a bit of her own agency at the same time. It was a wonderful character moment, and I was rooting for her. This sex scene was way too good for this game. And of course she would be immediately hospitalized the next day.

This section sort of existed in the Anime but was drastically changed. Instead of having Yuuki be involved directly, Chisato and her did fight about their shared feelings of him. Mifuyu ran out of Chisato's apartment wearing a belly shirt and looking to possibly try to whoo him with how strong she had become about her scar, but them both breaking down crying in the elevator was still a good moment. I just don't know how I feel about the rest of it due to it not having the same feel to it. It's not as bad as the Isara bullying scene in terms of how I felt about the changes but still felt a bit too changed.

Never Read a Girl's Diary

During the election speech of most other routes, Yuuki immediately disqualified himself the moment Chisato called him from the hospital. Mifuyu's Mother had asked them both to read her diary due to a fear that her daughter would die. I'll only briefly discuss my thoughts on it here with some screenshots. Her voice actress reading out all of these lines was a very nice touch, especially with how depressed she sounded.

This first screenshot was an entry from before the start of the game. She had been ignoring her feelings for him for at least a year at this point and it was a painful entry. Due to this being from before the start, that also meant that these existed in all routes and she truly was in love with him this entire time. I love these kinds of reveals.

Yuuki's first speech in the common route set her heart aflutter. They have never shown it in its entirety in any of the routes so far, yet this was the first time it explicitly was stated that it made one of the girls want to be with him. Of course she'd be the one to feel that way; she wrote it for him but he completely ad-libbed it into something so much better.

And then, she tortured herself. Chisato and Yuuki deserved to be together without her there. During the rain scene, it was heavily implied that she was suicidal but this entry confirmed it. It's probably the one that her mother read that lead her to have those two read it. This part of the session was very hard on me.

NOTE: I had to change the textbox transparency here for this screenshot. There was full nipple shown otherwise due to how dark the image was in comparison to the textbox color; it's one of the few places where that was a big issue

Chisato, I want to hug you here. After reading through all of the entries, she broke down and ugly cried for what was possibly 10 minutes or so.

Non-Chan Returns To Best Girl Status

I'm not fully sure if this was a mistranslation or the translators being a bit cheeky, but this got a laugh out of me. It sounded like she was saying "Good Morning Everybody" like she normally did but still was a cute little change. I hope that in the official translation coming out in a few months that they keep this (since it looks like this one will be used as a base for that one).

The Monkeys Return

Plot twist: Mifuyu made a speedy recovery and these two were cheesing Yuuki hard about it. They really have grown on me so much throughout my time with this game. They're idiots but they are lovable idiots that genuinely do care about their friends and their happiness.

True Chisato Returns

Don't lie, girl. You're into vouyeristic shit. It's not stated directly but I could so see her watching Mifuyu and Yuuki having sex. You'll see why in a bit. She's cracked hard.

This was the first time she had willingly eaten chocolate without Yuuki's intervention in all of the routes. That was both impressive and terrifying because of what it implied. I thought the last line meant she was done but then...

She said she was joking here but I've been watching her for long enough to know that she's actually serious. I could see her forcing a full love triangle and the future of all three's dynamic being torn apart by it. I hate how much I laughed about this entire scene.

The Epilogue was a Bit Wild

The thumbnail image of both Chisato and Mifuyu crying together as they made up was heartwarming. I half expected Chisato to make out with her after this line to mess with Yuuki, though. Again, she's cracked.

It may not seem like much from these screenshots, but Chisato eating a chocolate bar in front of Mifuyu (the chocolate was the report) and stating this was such a bad move on her part. Chisato just threatened to go full Yandere without saying many words if Mifuyu makes any mistakes.

Of course it'd be painful. You just stole your best friend's love interest from her and she's literally told you that you better not hurt him or she'll destroy you. If sprite ever releases a sequel, I'd love to see how this future played out.

And, they had to hide the kiss behind a bouquet. This was the only route so far that ended with a kiss and they had to be cheeky with it.

Further Thoughts

I only have one more route to go and that is the Satsuke one. Due to it sharing quite a bit with the Mifuyu route, I hope it adds enough new content to make it worthwhile. I also can't wait to see how her story plays out. The Anime only briefly covered some of it but it still felt a bit funky.
