Runescape 3 Clue Juggling

Clue juggling is a method of clue solving which can be used when only a small number of steps of the clue can be completed by the player. This situation occurs most often due to area restricted accounts, but can also apply to combat or content restricted accounts. In OSRS clue juggling is done by dropping a clue scroll with a doable step, then acquiring another clue while the first is still on the ground. This process is repeated until the desired number of doable steps are attained, then the clue is solved normally. The major drawback with this method is the amount of time involved, and more specifically, the amount of focused game time required. Getting clue scrolls from monsters or HAM members can take a little while in itself, but being limited to a handful of steps dramatically increases the amount of time required to gather the doable clues. This is made worse by the two minute despawn timer on items dropped on the ground, which forces a degree of attention to be maintained, sometimes for hours. This is not even considering the inconveniences of server disconnects. The practice is quite unhealthy and can cause burnout and frustration with the game, which is never good. Perhaps not intentionally, the RS3 clue scroll rework has solved the attention problem by making the small change that destroying a clue scroll does not reset the progress for the clue. In other words, a step of a clue scroll can be completed, and the clue dropped, then the next clue scroll will still have one completed. This completely eliminates the need to be glued to the screen when clue juggling, but RS3 has another small change which dramatically improves the quality of life when clue juggling, the small fact that sealed clue scrolls stack up to twenty-five, or fifty with the storage upgrade. This means that when a clue is acquired, the player can continue with combat or skilling without feeling like they are missing out on further clues. In the context of juggling, this means that after acquiring a doable step, the player can stack up twenty-four more potential steps without having to leave the activity, which is convenient. I would also argue that some of the rewards for RS3 clue scrolls are better due to the mining and smithing rework altering a lot of drop tables, but the mining and smithing rework is a huge topic for another post, because it fundamentally changes the game for restricted accounts, making some things easier, while making others much more difficult. It definitely shifts the area restricted meta.
