Painting #1 - Beloved child of light & darkness

Happy birthday! (⌒▽⌒)♡ σ(≧ε≦σ) ♡

I painted this in May! ^^ I hope for anyone struggling with their dark side and their good side, I want you to know darkness is only bad if you think it is, balance is the key. And I'm a firm believer that we are all equally gifted and balanced. But what we act upon, what we believe in, will ultimately decide our life.

When you try to fight your negative thoughts, it grow stronger. I tried to deny and fight it, felt like pulling teeth, dragging my soul across asphalt, screaming.

Your darkness exists as a defense mechanism, in bad situations, it makes you tough, makes you survive. It makes you fight back and stand back up again.

When being good is not enough and your heart & soul feel like giving up, your darkness is there to push but what then? What if you survive and you realize you don't need to fight back anymore? Where will all that fighting energy go?

If you don't let it go, the survive & fight mechanism will make you fight all the good things you have in your life. Negative thoughts that used to keep you on your toes and ready to fight your enemies now have nowhere to go.

It's time to let go, say thank you to that part of you. Really, really, feel all the struggle, the fight you went through, all the dark bad feelings you thought must be always denied, that you're a bad human being if they exist, that you lost. They will always be there if you don't acknowledge & process them properly. Breath, close your eyes and let go. Say thank you and accept them, don't push them away, don't deny their existence.

Nothing about you is ugly or bad. I truly realize this, and accept it on my 26 birthday. I realize that I'm loved, that I'm here is because that part of me that I thought was bad, that shadow self, that darkness, loves me so much, it doesn't want me to lose in life, it doesn't want me to lose my spirit, my passion, my fire.

They just want me to succeed, to have all that I wish for. The gifts both the darkness and light gave me was beyond words and I'm truly grateful. Thank you.

A child loved by light and darkness. How powerful and magnificent you can be if you can wield all parts of yourself? ^^
