APHRODITE RELAXES / WATERCOLOR ON CANVAS

Hi my dear friends of Hive,
What does the position of this figure remind you of? The position of the character, lying on a bed in relaxation, a classical position of the ancien scultures and paintings from the archaic period to the nineteenth century, as “Sleeping Ariadne” Roman sculpture or in the Etruscan sculpture.

Ciao miei cari amici di Hive,
cosa vi ricorda la posizione di questa figura? La posizione del personaggio, sdraiato su un letto in relax, posizione classica delle antiche sculture e pitture dall'età arcaica all'ottocento, come la scultura Romana “Arianna dormiente” o nella scultura Etrusca.

I made this painting when Ireturned from a trip to Greece and had visited the Acropolis. Amazing place!!!
I was struck by the monumentaly of the Parthenon and I thought about how it aws in its time when all the wonderfull scultures of Phidias were. Especially the sculptures of the eastern pediment with Dione and Aphrodite, now kept in the British Museum in London.

Ho realizzato questo dipinto quando sono tornato da un viaggio in Grecia e avevo visitato l'Acropoli. Posto fantastico!!!
Rimasi colpito dalla monumentalità del Partenone e pensai a come fosse a suo tempo quando c'erano tutte le meravigliose sculture di Fidia.
Soprattutto le sculture del frontone orientale con Dione e Afrodite, oggi conservate al British Museum di Londra.

I had studied Phidias and Greek art for a long time at school and even after, this period of art has always interested me because it was a great historical period founded on a perfect balance between humanity and nature.
In this work I have taken the position of the figure of Aphrodite for interpret her with watercolors on canvas and this is the result.
Nothing to do with the original sculpture!!!...hahaha
Well, what do you want? It is contemporary art!!! Very minimal.... the wonderful drapery is missing.

Avevo studiato a lungo Fidia e l'arte greca a scuola e anche dopo, questo periodo dell'arte mi ha sempre interessato perché è stato un grande periodo storico fondato su un perfetto equilibrio tra umanità e natura.
In questo lavoro ho preso la posizione della figura di Afrodite per interpretarla con acquarelli su tela e questo è il risultato.
Niente a che vedere con la scultura originale!!!...hahaha
Beh cosa volete? E' arte contemporanea!!! Molto minimale.... manca il meraviglioso drappeggio.
