Safety or Terror from Above

As a Military veteran and an Iraq war veteran I’m always intrigued by the evolution of the battlefield toys and how they ultimately make it to the mainstream To become how the community is ultimately “protected”.

As we see the modern face of watergate has been changed by drones, and the ability for small group units to deploy eye in the sky capabilities has greatly increase the outcomes for an undermanned, and underfunded Army like Ukraine. It gives relevance to the expansion of tech around drones. Which inspired this series here.

As the tech becomes more readily available I can see drones being used in all manner of helpful ways, but in the terms of lethality, there is nothing more lethal than a swarm of Kamikaze drones set with a seek and destroy mission. They will add a layer of terror that has never been seen or survived before. I pray the world is smart about the control of such capabilities.

It would give us pause to consider a strategy where only Victory is prioritized and peace and stability is only seen through the lens of winners and losers.
When we test the limits of nature, and mix nature with cyber for the sake of surveillance is one thing, but to deliver lethality is an entirely different proposal which makes us wonder, who is requesting this stuff??? Nevertheless as Hollywood continues to control the purse strings, their fascination with the military has created a constant demand for Space age dreams.

I made these pieces to be a warning and to raise awareness that where we are going is un-reversible in many ways. So as a soldier and a former war time intelligence officer I say tread lightly.

The greatest battle tanks on the streets will pale in comparison to a swarm of smart drones. Any time any where.
