[Photoshop] Celebrating

in OnChainArt3 years ago

Good afternoon guys, first I would like to comment on something before starting the post:
WOW! 172 LIKES IN A SINGLE DAY! THANK YOU ALL!
I've been posting my drawings for over 10 years on Facebook and I've never had more than 30 likes on the most viewed ones, so this was kind of a personal milestone finally passed. Everyone says that the secret to working with these things is not to care too much about the number of likes or comments in the short term, but I couldn't help but feel a bit excited lol.

That said, today I'm just going to bring some scenario studies, unfortunately, I couldn't proceed with that Tifa sketch yet, and I couldn't even create anything new for this post.
But they are some of my favorite studies so far, two of them were those who started this whole wave of mine with scenarios. And this also opened the door for me to a different style of finishing with digital painting, which ended up culminating in a special one that I consider my best work of last year. It took 3 weeks to finish and a couple of the ends of my Intuos were totally destroyed, but it was worth it lol.

The idea for this one was for the character to be a kind of "dream merchant". A supernatural being who collects and sells soul parts to other supernatural beings. As you can see in the first concept below:

the scenario was totally different and there were several other creatures besides the merchant. I ended up disliking how the big picture was turning out, so I changed basically everything except the merchant. Now he's just wandering, his true nature, his arrival point, and his purpose, someday maybe, we'll find out.

The other two, as I said, we're the ones that woke me up to try this new style of finishing, Which gives a more realistic feel and comes a little closer (I expect) to the style that I admire so much, which is that of Miura sensei. As they were the first experiments with this style, and they are sketches that I took much more in a playful mood, their finishing level is low, to say the least. But I think they deserve some credit for kicking off the whole thing.

Well, that's it, I believe I've said much more than necessary, and what was supposed to be a small thanks post ended up being huge. A farewell to all, hope you like it, and I'll see you next time.
